POST GAME Round 7 - Broncos vs Titans

I actually kind of disagree. Wallace was very good off the bench and seemed to be getting better and better, as well as more consistent. Last year he was one of our better players. He will play origin.

Agreed[emoji106]

With the way the broncos defend by not moving up, most opposition forwards will rack up easy metres before they get tackled.

It's usually true, but against the Titans our linespeed was pretty fucking superb quite often. They could barely get out of their 20-30m zone. Which makes Wallace's performance even more impressive IMO, since I have no idea what their other forwards were doing.

I thought the Titan's spread the ball nicely early on and we struggled to negate it. Once we got into the grind and got used to it, I think we did ok. The problem with line speed is that it's hard to keep it up all game. Need to be very well disciplined to keep it going for sustained periods.

I'm with you. He steadily improved last year. Before that he looked to be a perennial plodder, but he finally started to be punishing in defence last year and make good metres post-contact with the ball. The offer from the Titans was not surprising and a lot of us felt he deserved it for his hard work.
Yeah I am looking badly wrong on Wallace so far, thought he was a plodder with a talent for getting penalised. Career best game but Broncs have a way of making average teams and players look good against them. And agree sometimes change is best thing for a player in his situation. How much is he on at the titans?
Not convinced origin quality yet but if he keeps going maybe later in series.
Having said that let's see if he can sustain it before questioning decision not to offer him more to stay.

It isn't like the Broncos missed the ball on Wallace, they knew his best years were in-front of him and they tried to keep him. The Gold Coast Titans just offered him a better opportunity and he took it.

It may pay off and I'm happy with his progress, but there's a difference between starring in a team like the Broncos and the Titans.

And it wasn't like the Broncos halted his progress or anything. He started 9 games and he never starred in any of those performances. It's difficult to throw money around when your hand isn't being forced.

Hardly noticed him as he had very few touches. It was typical Nikorima though, has a bit of a running game but not much else. Was very sound defensively, 25 tackles, 0 missed.
On website says Nikorima was alright but not a long term 7 option, looked like a typical utility player

There honetly doesn't seem to be a big difference between him and Milford, both are very similar. Kodi is obviously less experienced though, doesn't call for them ball as much. His running game did seem better though.

Our kicking game wasn't good on Friday. It was almost non-existent. Some of the bombs that we put up would have been criticized last year if a certain player did them. Milford fluked a repeat set andscored, but could barely carry us to a win against the lowly Titans. He also got hammered by Taylor and dropped a ball that was passed straight to his chest. Honestly just make Roberts play five-eight and we might get shit done. At least he straightens up before side stepping 13 times and getting tackled.

You didn't mention his weight for once. Well done.

Milford was a lot better than people are giving him credit for. If Glenn hadn't dropped a sitter (again), he would have had another try assist.

Milf dropped a pretty bad pass and an absolute howler in the dying stages. That howler is the concern because it once again in crunch time though.

Milf is starting to come good though, I think anyone who has watched the last two weeks honestly would admit that.

As for KNik, for a guy who has little to no pre-season in the position, he did quite well all things considered. He looked threatening at times and more than held his own defensively.

My concern with KNik was that quite a few times he was standing behind the ruck whereas he should have been running into position for the next play. The player with the ball was cleary looking for the playmaker and he wasn't there. That was a big concern for me.

That said, if that awareness improves, and I think it will just take someone to point it out to him, I think he is the goods.

This is rubbish.

I agree with all of that. There was also a couple of times he had his back to the play the ball. All in all though he is a pretty handy backup.

That was shame about the pass to Glen being spilled. That's one of those passes that only Milford can throw and deserved a much better result.
