As long as Isaako improves his defensive reads, that for mine is a killer backline. Should be our starting point to carry forward for the next few years at least. Pity about Boyd though. A fly in the ointment. Boyd maybe enough to fill a centre position, however as I said once before, for a new team building a future, enough is insufficient, especially when those young players try their guts out no matter what

who has been our defensive coach; honestly Isaakos not alone in being unable to defend at a ICS leevl let alone NRL...

I know we're short of centres for this game, but I just read Shibasaki's remarks about him bludging during the covid enforced break and only now being up to speed. It sort of sums the guy up and i think justifies yet again why he was let go.

I only hope this was not the case with our boys as they do seem gassed every game we play. Additionally, they only seem to be there for the first half trying and come the second stanza we've got nothing in the tank. Is this inexperience? I'm more inclined to suggest it's simply piss poor preparation and planning that's producing the painfully poor performances.

P-p-p pick up a penguin.

much easier to get gassed when they change the rules to allow the refs to manipulate games like this is the WWE ... without even being held accountable, since they don't seem to keep these stats, like they do penalties

With COVID, was it the case that they were not supposed to be training as a group together? If so, I suspect some of our opponents were training together on the sly. I saw Josh Morris say in an interview that the COVID break came at the perfect time because he was able to learn all of the plays and get up to speed????

I suspect this too. I think a few of the Broncos players spoke about not having gym equipment at home etc. and, being young, I doubt they went for jogs or sprints in the park/backyard. Was that even allowed? But I just can't shake the suspicion that other teams used that time to improve physically.

I’ll finish with this...

If Michael Maguire got the head coach role at Brisbane, I would bet my house that Boyd and Milford wouldn’t be playing this weekend. FACT

What he is doing at the Tigers is exactly what needs to be done in Brisbane. Dropping Benji was a huge statement and even bigger when you consider he was playing at a higher standard than Milford is for us. He also dropped a club stalwart in Chris Lawrence whilst Darius still masquerades around the field thinking he is still a first grader.

The difference is one club has a coach with a non nonsense approach with an experienced hard edge and a zero tolerance mentality who will hold players accountable to get the club where it needs to be and doesn’t make excuses.

The other club has a clueless coach who rode on the coattails of the other said coaches work to earn himself a premature 6 year deal where he has brought in systems that no one understand or adheres to, a soft underbelly attitude where no one is held accountable and is more worried about not upsetting the senior playing group than what we are producing on the field. Also has an excuse for every single scenario presented to him.

At least one thing we have over the Tigers is consistency. We consistently get roasted in games, we consistently look clueless, we consistently make excuses and we are consistent in making our coach fit in with our senior players by giving out over bloated contracts that haven’t been earned or aren’t performing anywhere close to that value.

Just waiting for seasons end when we finish bottom 4 with Seibold still doing the same shit as he is now and the board will come out post season and blame COVID-19 on absolutely everything that transpired throughout the season.

And if it gets to that point, I’ll hold up my end of the bargain and be consistent in not buying a membership and not spending a single cent on the club.

I can’t believe I currently have a Warriors membership for 2020 and not a Broncos one. Says it all.

....we could have very well secured Maguire you know.....cant cry crocodile tears over the way he is handling issues with Tigers; we mad eour shit sandwich and now we all eat it...

so it takes another injury for Pieface to make this decision......he falls over once again our Harvard professor and comes up trumps....

also, can we please stop talking baout Glenn playing in the backs and Oates playing in the forwards...

Glenn is a specialist forward; play him there and if he isnt good enough you bench him

Oates is a oxygen thief who stands on the wing; play him there and if he isnt good enough you bench the ****

Stop moving the deckchairs whilst the Titanic sinks.....seriously...

This game will be close; could well come down to goalkicking (see where im going with this); yes its great to see another young blood get his debut but be careful what you wish for..

Ive mentioned this before; if we insist on hiring rookie coaches we should have a director of football between him and the board.

Want to drop Milf and Boyd but afraid of the potential backlash...just do it and tell the dropped players....go see the DoF...

pipedream i know but....the current leadership set-up isnt condusive to a rookie coach when he is struggling...

What’s the bet dearden doesn’t even get on the field.. if anything he’ll get the last 5 minutes of the game.

If we drop a single game in the next 4 weeks, then we can consider our slim chances of making the 8 all but gone. We have Titans, Warriors, Dogs, Tigers.

These are all must win games just to make an appearance in the finals. Consider this game a final of sorts.

Well this team doesn't do well under pressure, it is a not going to happen.

Badel is reporting Dearden is in, Isaako is out. Lockyer says:

“With Cory Paix out injured, Tom will get some time off the bench. I’m really happy for Tom, it’s not easy for guys at the moment outside the NRL team because they have nowhere else to play. It’s an opportunity he has been waiting patiently for. It won’t be quality time in the halves but just being part of the group and the intensity of the NRL will be good for Tom.”

“Talent is part of it, but the thing that is most impressive is his attitude. His time will come through injury and suspension. If he gets a run, he will make the most of it. It’s pretty rare for a kid to come into the NRL at 18 and hold his spot for the rest of his career. Their bodies have to get used to the intensity and the knocks _ it’s pretty hard to sustain a debut at 18 and stay there week in, week out. We rate Tom highly and this will be a good chance to show us what he’s got.”

We have Coates too who is the next Folau I think.
I don't think that quote is too far off in regard to Haas. People forget that though he's been playing a while, he immature for a first grade prop and will only get better.
Players really don't tend to hit their peak until at least 24. Hes right now playing 80 minutes every second match.
I will concede there are flaws in his game, particularly defence but what player his age is even capable of doing half of what he does.
I just hope this team manages some equilibrium in their potential versus their output but even with the mediocre results we had, with the performances to match I still believe the sky is the limit with some of these young players, but Haas especially.

Well if what i just heard on M johns podcast is true Seibs game plan for Isaako was terrible last week and he may be as close to losing the shed as anyone could be.

That game plan made no sense and its exactly what we watched. I said not involved enough well thats why. Maybe Seibs is full of hot air.

Is he some kind of fraud who accidentally won coach of the year but really he’s just some janitor from Harvard?

I swear in the lead up to him singing someone called him "..a real student of the game.." I've yet to see it. That said, the same person could have been talking about JD and the possibility of him taking over after Wayne or something.
