Round 8 Discussion

Rapana is a genuine gun winger these days. Is he a QLDer?

He is eligible for QLD if he changes his allegiance to Australia.

Moved to the Gold Coast at 10. Played his junior footy there and he hasn't represented NZ yet.

Well he played for NZ Maori, but I don't think that qualifies as a Tier 1 side..

Damn Coote is good. No doubt in my mind he is the form Fb in the comp and should be 1st pick for NSW.

As for Thurston, hmmm, on last night's performance I am actually liking Ben Hunt just as much except for his kicking which is definitely improving.

I like the way the Cows use the whole field which stretches the Eels defence - way to beat them

some interesting (unfortunate) dialogue on the triple M "5 mins of rugby league chat, 15 mins of ads / songs / bullshit" show today .. commentators were stunned that the cowboys could possibly be keeping their current group largely intact for the next couple of seasons .. so sad how we've all been programmed into death-riding the ability of premiership winning clubs keeping their sides intact .. It is so wrong IMO ... Basically we've all come to accept and even demand that successful teams should be blown-up and punished for their success..

I don't mind it, but I do have to laugh when we're being singled out as the 2016 version of the 2013 rorters when the cows have the side they do.

But why shouldn't good sides be able to stick together?? Say the Broncos win the competition this year, as fans we all celebrate for a little while but in the back of our minds we all know we're basically fucked in the near future because purely of that success .. You win the comp, there's no way you can keep that group together - sorry ... It's ridiculous, especially in the case of teams like ours and the Cowboys, that consist largely of talent that club has nurtured through the ranks..

The NRL shouldn't be some merry-go-round where you basically wait your turn to become a premiership threat by virtue of other teams being busted up

I don't know if he is just tired, but Jennings looks like he has lost a bit of speed.

It wasn't long ago he would have been quick enough to score under the posts.

Come on Parra.

While I'm sinking the boot in to the Tigers, add Sironen to that list. While no where near as hyped up as Mitchell Pearce, I get the impression that his surname is giving people false hope. If you believed the media, he's a tough back-rower that runs great lines and hurts in defence. In reality, he offers little-to-no impact nor does he have a great work rate. He might get better as he gets older, as he's still young, but he certainly doesn't seem to hit the line with any force or carry momentum in to tackles. If he had any other surname I don't see how he'd be playing first-grade, yet I suspect being lumped in with the Brooks / Moses / Tedesco "class of the future" has his contract value dangerously over-inflated.

Agreed 100% Bull Shark but on this...

that consist largely of talent that club has nurtured through the ranks..

While a lot of their players made their first grade debut at North Queensland or really came of age there...11 of their GF 17 actually came through other systems.
