Burgess acquitted.

Bullshit.

Can't wait till we beat the shit out of these *****.

Bennett should be pushing the us v them thing all week.

Burgess not guilty.
Yeah, that is not right. He could have definitely avoided contact. He leaned into the hit and the ball was long gone. It's probably the fact they called it a "shoulder charge" rather than "foul play" or something like that that allowed him to get off.

Yet again, consistency is non-existent and is the main reason people have no faith in the system.

Judiciary just being consistent in their inconsistency, Burgess even has a follow-through with his action on Eastwood.

Doesn't change our preparation one bit though.

Surely mead doesn't stay on the bench for 65-70 mins like last week only to replace a winger? He has to either start and play 80 or not be in the team in my opinion. I understand that he is a "utility" like player who can cover a few positions if we get an injury but my concern is if we don't get an injury and don't need him then he's not someone who can come on and offer some impact like Kodi could off the bench or like a versatile forward.

To me it almost leaves us with ultimately a 3 man bench so I'd be surprised if Wayne leaves it like this and plays the same tactic as last week. In saying that he's the boss so maybe he has a method to his madness.

Once again, anyone actually surprised? Technically the tackle that arguably started all of this, Inglis on Hornby, was the same scenario. Inglis was not moving forward, but was leaning forward, and braced for impact, with no attempt to use his arms.

This whole bullshit of it being a reaction, it happening too fast for the tackler to use their arms, what are they doing there then? Playing statues? "Oh, my arm was already up in the air, I had no time to react so just braced for impact and snorted him with my forearm, breaking his nose". "Oh, I had already started lifting, I had no idea he would be upended and it happened too quick for me to prevent him getting in a dangerous position". The bullshit excuses don't have to be believable, they just have to be grey enough for the MRC to accept in order to rule in favour of whatever suits their current agenda.

This all points towards a ref special Friday night... We might see a 2014-esque performance from the officials.

The proof is on the pudding, really. We haven't been run over the top of at the end of games because of a tiring forward pack. Often it's been a bullshit penalty, a lack of execution by our halves or backs due to the pressure, or an absolute fucking fluke by the opposition.

Even with Mead taking a spot and TPJ going off injured, our forwards still had enough in them at the death to not only get in position, but through Gillett come up with the match-winning play.

I trust Wayne.

Oh for sure. Wait for the "embattled, injury-riddled club doing it tough and hanging in there" stories all week.

I'm expecting a mountain of penalties against us, with the game being "managed" to a tight finish, and a customary Burgii loose carry being called a strip right in front, we lose by penalty goal.

I would guess the "impact" statement comes from the fact that Fai had 17 more post-contact metres with 3 less runs, in 15 less minutes.
And I was just about to ask, WTF is PCM. Thanks lol

Forget pure on-field tactics, Mead on the bench as a reward for good form is exactly the type of culture a coach should encourage. If you play well, even if there isn't a spot for you, we'll make one. It encourages everyone to play better.

Hope Boyd won't be caught in the defensive line when defending our try line other wise Reynolds will grubber us to death.

I tend to agree. Mead may also be in named at 17, but don't they have to narrow down to 19 in the next few days? Maybe he is there as injury cover for either wingers/centres. I would assume that both Oates and Kahu have niggles and even Moga got a pinch with an awkward tackle last weekend.

I can't see Mead being anything more than cover for those positions but our forwards are pulling huge minutes and staying effective. Ese'ese was pretty gassed towards the end, especially with TPJ out injured but he was still making huge efforts. A couple of times he got the ball and was pretty static but still put in. Much respect to our stamina this season so far.

Teams pretty much have that one player on the bench just so they can get some game time.

How does tackle breaks not equate to extra meters? That's exactly what it equals. Joe made more meters than both of them. Sorry I don't understand your point.

When Joe made one of those busts beating four Cutters and running into the clear he passed to Su'A to score. Su'A had nothing in front of him but the Brisbane River- those meters are Joe's too.

Joe's try he pushed through the line and scored swatting them away. His tackle breaks equaled meters and a try.

I think on the stats Joe had the strongest game and deserves his spot this week over Fai. SUA is a backrower so his stats wouldn't ordinarily be compared to a props. And I think that try you are talking about SUA drew 2 defenders in and passed to Joe who then busted the tackle of a cutters defender setting up sua. Offa in my opinion is more of a starting prop with Fai being a better option for impact off bench at this stage.

As disappointing as it is having tpj injured I am really interested to see how joe goes in first grade as it seems he's been performing strongly in intrust super cup. This will determine how good our depth really is if guys like offa and fai can come into the squad and get the job done especially with the dreaded origin period just around the corner.

Dodds is starting for Wynnum
