POST GAME Round 8 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

**** you. I had to endure that incident to find those shots.
Oh God no. I meant of the bunnies game this weekend. I didn't even know what you guys were talking about until reading your reply, and now I've scrolled up and seen your screen shots and my whole week is ruined.

To be fair, and I'll qualify this by saying I only saw the last two minutes of the game, but Packer ran straight in to the blocker and then hit the deck, he wasn't technically "knocked over by one of them". He didn't have much of a choice though. Packer could have gone around him but it would have meant he'd have to run two metres sidewards before turning and straightening up (and never would have got there), but instead went in a straight line towards Pearce, knowing that he'd run straight in to the blocker. He took the right option, and if just one of the 4 on-field refs had balls they would have pinged it right then and there. The ref went straight to his microphone to converse with the others, with me thinking "they're going to pull this up", and rightly so. But they all went "yeah all good" and he put his hand up and blew the whistle. Fucking pathetic.

I thought that they were going to look at it at least.

Checcin has always been a useless ref like that.

Don't shoot the messenger, Del. Dex was just quoting some irrational Souths supporter who always blows up whenever they lose.

Well I've been shot on LU as well. Banned for I don't know what and I can't see a way to ask.

No big loss because I get the feeling their are a lot of pretty young posters who just post a massive whinge and don't offer much in the way of a constructive observation.

Wayne Bennett fires back at NRL bunker critic Michael Maguire
AAP37 minutes ago
IN A swipe at rival Michael Maguire, Wayne Bennett wants critics to stop their “ridiculous” whining and accept that the NRL bunker will never be perfect.
Livid South Sydney coach Maguire this week demanded answers from the NRL after referees boss Tony Archer admitted Brisbane centre Tautau Moga’s try in the Broncos’ controversial one-point last round win over the Rabbitohs should not have been awarded.
Broncos coach Bennett’s message to bunker bashers ahead of Thursday night’s clash with Penrith was simple — get over it.
The seven-time premiership-winning coach backed the multi-million dollar bunker system, despite claiming another mistake would be made this round. “It will happen to someone else next week,” he said.
“But the technology is there, they do a great job and it’s much improved this year.
“They are making more decisions on the field, the bunker has been good.
“But it will never, ever be perfect. We will always get something wrong.
“But we are minimising what we are getting wrong.”
Maguire was fuming after two controversial decisions in their last round loss.
Besides Moga’s bizarre 69th minute try, which levelled the scores, Maguire was furious over the “ridiculous” call to award Brisbane pivot Anthony Milford’s late matchwinning field goal.
Maguire believed Milford had knocked on before kicking the decisive one-pointer, but Bennett was unmoved.
“I just think it is ridiculous the way we all overreact to all of it,: he said. “It’s the nature of the game. It’s not going to stop because everyone carries on about it.
“We all get the bad decisions. But do you get a bad call and carry on like a spoiled brat — is that what we teach our kids?” Bennett said he could empathise with Maguire but said there was no use complaining.
“Of course you would be disappointed (if Maguire) but you just have to live with it,” he said.
“We make less mistakes than we have ever made with regards to officials. “Our best players make mistakes. You’ve got to assume their best referees make mistakes — that’s what happens in sport.
“The best ones make less mistakes but they do make them.”

If Bennett were petty he could have called out the multitude of glaringly obvious mistakes that we've copped this year. But all it would do would give our players excuses to feel hard done by and not own their own performances and mistakes.

Let's see how the Sydney media spin this one against Bennett.

Let's see how the Sydney media spin this one against Bennett.

They'll troll through the past 3 years of media conferences and interviews and cherry pick a comment he's said where the Broncos got a raw deal on a call. And then it'd be Hypocrite Wayne And His Short Memory.

Opens with this pearler:

"He's complained about golden point, then whined about a poor draw around Origin and even moaned over the finals scheduling."

Aaaah don't ever change Sydney media.

That site can barely be classed as "Media"

surely if he whinges all the time they only had to go back 3 weeks to find him whinging given Ben Hunt was denied a try from the worst decision of the season

Lol fair enough l just read the Ask the Wanker and The Wanker stuff for a laugh.

Bennett complaints they listed were more overall game issues that affect every club not just us.

I never heard him complain about a on field ref decision, did he ever complain about these in the past?

I can't remember any complaints in recent history. In his second memoir, "The Man In The Mirror", Bennett can't help but mention the officials performance in regards to his team's final exit. In 2001, the Eels had a handy penalty count and scored on the back of a play that would later be outlawed. In '02 it was the infamous Harrigan game where Bill had a 'brain explosion' at a crucial point in the game and he was in utter disbelief about that, then '03 Penrith won the penalty count comprehensively.

Apart from that, the last time I remember Wayne really kicking up a stink about the officials was in 2007 when Jarryd Hayne took a dive right after the Broncos had the Eels shot to pieces. In response, the media went into over-drive and basically said it was a good thing Hayne suffered an injury because the Eels had actually forced an error, the MRC then found that Hayne had no case to answer for but a Broncos player most certainly did in Michael Ennis and eventually the Eels put on a then record score in the final round after Brisbane had been guaranteed a spot in the finals.

I asked Rothfield why he isn't blowing up about Raiders losing the game against Manly on the back of a rubbish penalty where Tapine legally stripped the ball from Taupau and he was penalized for it.

He hasn't responded.

Instead he is talking up that game going on about how great it was.

Like the Sims try was technically legal, that strip was technically a penalty, as there was a second Raiders player involved, even if for the tiniest of the moments. Whether Hodgson was still involved by the time Tapine stripped the ball, is irrelevant.

Thank you @Big Pete

That is amazing restraint from Bennett.
