POST GAME [Round 9, 2022] Rabbitohs vs Broncos

so two things ...

First, who took the bookies to the cleaners tonight

second, how about that Souths by 13+ tip Joey
is that the ‘stares at the camera like a stunned mullet look’ John’s? very hard to watch.

Wonder who is responsible for bringing Jenson and TMM to the club? Or was it a collaborative effort?

Tell you what, those signings might not have been heralded nor stir much excitment but...they are responsible for changing our season.

Cant get them all right mind (Ryan James) but if this is the trend for our recruitment moving forward im very pleased.

Precisely how one navigates a salary cap league

Suspending Tom Flegler again changed our future. It was the brain jolt he needed.

Cheers although most don't realise I only rate RK as a capable modestly talented hard worker. I've never ever thought he was elite or top shelf. I have great respect for the average hard working forwards of our game.
I know we've had a win but let's be honest here. People have very rarely said Kennedy is shit. At most they've agreed that he's fine, could be a bench player but there's others ahead of him. This sets you off on one of your holier than thou rants and people bite back at you. He's an ok player but probably not in our full strength top 17.

Also while we are here, I think most people were also saying Kennedy should be there over Ryan James, but James was obviously picked for a reason, and most of us guessed that it was his talk and organization that pipped Kennedy. Your responses about this topic have proved to be sensitive as ****, and you have no right to claim vindication because you have been arguing with yourself about this topic and never actually argue what anyone has said.

It was a bullshit penalty, but it wasn't the wrong decision.

If he was trying to get up. It was to get up and play the ball.
But that's only because he was tackled. If he wasn't touched he would have got up. The ruling was wrong.

"If there is no acting halfback it is permissible for a player to dive behind the tackled player and drop on the ball after it has been heeled provided that, unless tackled, he immediately regains his feet"

"Unless tackled"
"Unless tackled"
"Unless tackled"

You can't attack a referee for enforcing the rules. You can only attack one for not enforcing them.

There's not much point saying they do it all the time. You have to give an example.

Did he break a rule? Apparently he did. Did he break a dumb rule? Undoubtedly.

But there was no "cheating" here. We have to take it on the chin.
Cant argue with that logic but he actually ruled a voluntary tackle so I'm trying to get my head around that when you get 5 plus deliberate ones every game.
That's a bit of fuckery right the IMO.

Gee, I don't know if the referee got it wrong but he was apologetic about the rule being "stupid." Nonetheless, accusing a referee of "cheating" in front of the forensic scrutiny of a live TV panel, thousands of fans and the media that follows is stupider than the stupidest rule.

I don't have much patience for fans who carrying with this "ref is cheating" shit. It brings the game down to its lowest common denominator of drooling fuckwit.

Really great win by the boys, ive read a lot on this thread about Brisbane not needing Haas.....just stop now...

The guys a generational talent - what do you think he becomes if he leaves us and joins the Roosters or God forbid Melbourne?

He and Patty are our future props moving forwards. I have always believed that was the best pairing, now i just need more time and convincing on who is the long term 9.....not there yet?

The thing about Haas is, there is no good reason why he cant develop the nuances in his game that clearly are now starting to shine through for guys like Carrigan and (cant believe im saying it) Flegler. Hass is already throwing a few passes before the line on attacking sets...and he most certainly can offload in traffic.

I give him this, off-field issues and court dramas, Ramadan, yet the guy still turns up. Played brilliantly last week with a totally fucked AC joint!

I take great heart from the fact that yes, we can now finally win a forward battle without him in a game of NRL; doesnt mean he can now move on. Let him take as along as he needs to sort his shoulder out, take a extra week if you need it, cause i think we can hold the ship steady now.

Couldnt say that 6 months ago #progress
The biggest takeaway is that the team can still win without Haas so we shouldn't be held to ransom by his management to give him massive overs.

TMM was Wynnum not Broncos.

He will still always be known as Potato in my house :)

Wrong

Wynnum was just the avenue to get to the Broncos, more than likely approved by the Broncos as Wynnum is a feeder club.

He was signed to Wynnum first, if the Broncos didn't take an interest he just plays the whole year at Wynnum with his Wynnum contract. It was exactly the same as Benji at Dolphins.

It's a shame Goates had the nous to not play the ball without a dummy half at another point in the game, because then we'd know for sure if the referee was inconsistently applying archaic rules to one team and not the other.
