PRE-GAME Round 9 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

I'd lean towards dumping Croft before Milford. Milford and Dearden went well last year. The big issue is our halves don't connect, and our fullback isn't a ball player. If you look at all the good teams in the comp 2-3 members of their spine have a good connection.

Friend, Keary, teddy.

Smith and Munster

Korisau, Cleary, Edwards,

Moses & gutho

DCE and Tturbo.

We need that, along with a forward pack who doesn't stand flat.

Carrigan needs to produce an offload.

He manages to get an arm free quite a bit, but for whatever reason doesn't offload enough.

I would have to watch the game again, but I think Luke was quite good.

He really tried to get the Broncos on the front foot and did that a few times. If he had more support, that would have helped us keep pressure on the Warriors.

What sort of twisted bet did you lose to be given that punishment?

Also on crowd attendances, what is the odds that crowd will be under 4000?

Win or lose, always a good night out going to Suncorp. Best Rugby League stadium in the world.

It was Hannah Hollis pushing the FoxSports agenda.

It's what we've come to expect from them, but to be fair, these post-match pressers are largely a waste of time.

you’d think she’d have learned after the Wayne presser constantly asking about Lateral

You'd think the Broncos would be a good chance of winning this right?

But we just lost to a team with a bunch of players who literally don't even want to play for the rest of the season. The dogs will smell blood and will be dying to get off the bottom of the ladder.

I don't think the Broncos woes are over yet. This is the last of what was meant to be a run of "easy" games and yet it's looking like it may determine whether we're gonna win the spoon or not.

Yep, what a rabble we've become. The Bulldogs team on paper isn't much better than a reserve grade team but they still show pride in their jersey most weeks and are a good chance of rolling us. It's never pretty to watch but they usually show some fight and compete. I wish our team could start show some of that grit. Focus purely on defence, line speed and see if we can grind out a few ugly defensive wins before moving on to being able to score points through basic set plays. Time to break it down and start from scratch.

Milford and Boyd are safe. Put your house on it.

Once Staggs, Fifi, Lodge etc come back from injury they're gonna be even more safe.

If these guys are in tears already after playing the bottom 3 sides, have a look at the run after the bulldogs game...

Unless this team learns to work for more than 20 minutes a game they are no chance of winning this or any other game, the Dogs for sure will grind this for 80 minutes.

Haha. No bet was lost. Just keen to go.

If any of either Milford, Oates or Boyd are in this 17 then take the doggies at $3.
Guaranteed $$

I hope for your sake (and ours) that Staggs and Fifita are back because if we put out the exact same 17 next week, the Dogs will win easily.

They don’t have that much points in them but they have enough points in them to beat our rabble. Defensively they are better than the Warriors too.

All those sides did rather well recently with their key players out. Dropping players appeases those who bay for blood but hardly changes the core issues which are structures that players walk into, that are not because of players but for the players.

The structures to which you refer - connections between the FB, halves and dummy half are the key issues. They take time to develop. We have been content to keep plodders like Macca and Boyd in the side and rely on individuals to compensate. We are now really seeing that this doesn't work.

Am I the only one who thought Farnworth was ok v Warriors?

Don't get me wrong he has a lot of work to do, especially on defensive reads, but you can tell the bloke is actually trying and when he does initiate contact he's a pretty effective tackler.

Something needs to be done about that edge of Farnworth/Coates because it leaks way too many points but I personally feel Herbie doesn't deserve to be dropped, even if Staggs is back.
