If you want to dish it out, better learn to cop it too...

Wha?

I diasgreed with Reed being named in one of the poster's teams and offered up Kahu as an alternative.

What did b4l contribute?

Poor form, Porthoz.

You wanted an alternative to your alternative of playing Lowrie for 80 minutes, when we have Gillett, Parker, Thaiday, Glenn and Oates available? :noidea:

I meant if you're going to disagree at least offer up an alternative (which I did) as opposed to just being a smart alec (b4l).

Anyways, back on topic - I think Lowrie could be a real workhorse type player, especially in defense considering his background with the Storm. We have conceded 20-30 odd points in a lot of our games. Having a guy who can go the entire 80 and who can tackle isn't the craziest idea. I don't think he makes a good bench player.

We'll have to disgree about Glenn, Port. Even though he got MoM I think his form has been indifferent this year.

We have plenty of workhorses with infinitely more upside than Lowrie. The only spot he could take for 80 minutes would be that of lock, and he will never take that ahead of Parker, Gillett and Thaiday!

I agree Glenn hasn't been flash, but he's not a workhorse. He's however, a very good runner of the ball, and much more suited for the fringes than Lowrie.

Sounded pretty serious to me? Anyway what do you really think then?
OMG, I liked your post because I thought you were just following up on Unbreakable's sarcasm...

I get the feeling Kennedy is going to be in the team every week, not matter how he plays.

Are you going to offer up an alternative or are you all attitude?

Mate, I'm not all attitude, I just didn't elaborate because your attitude is quiet hard to take currently.

I responded to you the exact same way you did to another poster.

Ftr you lost me with lowrie for 80 minutes. Who do we lose to play him there? He isn't better than any of our current backrowers. Yes 80 minute tackle machine is his best use but he will need to wait until injury or origin

That's where you lost me.

If Kahu is fit, he should be in the centers. I'd also bring in Hala for Kennedy.

Also, am not opposed for recalling Lowrie, I'd have him start the game though and play the entire 80 minutes if he's up to it.

Kahu was very average defensively at centre and provided next to nothing in attack. He is not a centre. If we were to drop Reed, Copley should be the left centre with Maranta brought on the wing.

I would prefer Hala, but he isn't going to be selected.

I still can't see why Reed should be dropped. For mine, his form has lifted. He made at least one very important tackle v Souths, scored a great try combining with Hunt and overall played well IMO.

Maranta? I was impressed with his speed chasing down Inglis albeit too late, and his try was finished well. Trouble is, who do you drop? Only Reed it seems for Maranta. I prefer Reed atm.

Hey everyone,
Long time reader. First time poster.

I think we can beat the Cowboys. I think Griffin is trying to fit what he perceives as his best players in that backline which to me is why he has Hoffman at 5/8.

If it were up to me my back 5 would be:
Barba
Hoffman
Copley
Hodges
Vidot

Paul White told me at the below the border function that Reed would end up playing backrow and that Jayden Nikorima was ahead of Kodi and would get a shot this year at 5/8.

My team would be
Barba
Hoffman
Copley
Hodges
Vidot
J.Nikorima/Strasser/Paua'aia or any 5/8 thats a 5/8
Hunt
Hannant
Macca
Mcguire
Glenn
Parker
Gillett

Thaiday
Hala/Wallace/Reed
Oates (possibly Reed)
Granville

I think Thaiday would provide the greatest impact of all our second rowers coming off the bench. I think after the initial 20-25 mins our second rowers like Parker can play tighter and would be just as effective as one of our props coming on. I think Reed has good leg drive and can run straight and hard, which can be utilised off the bench. Only reason he's there is cos I know that Griffin loves him and will use him

Assuming everyone is fit, I think Griffin will be picking the same team he has over the last few weeks when he has had the full range of options (bar Kahu) to pick from. We all know Griffin is terribly risk averse and while he seems to be getting extremely frustrated ( going on the press conference after the Rabbits) we've all seen his response to things not going our way, is to try and improve the 1%'ers with his favoured players, rather than wholesale changes.

Reed won't be playing back row with the back rowers we have (no room for Teo remember, but there's room to play Reed in the back row? Please.) I get the feeling Griffin will stick with Hoffman at 5/8 until it is too late to do anything if it doesn't work and only then will any of the other choices (including I think Kahu, who it seems to me thanks to injury will likely end up 'missing the boat' as far as a regular position within Broncos goes) get a shot, just like 2013.

1. Barba.
2. Vidot.
3. Reed.
4. Hodges (C).
5. Copley.
6. Hoffman.
7. Hunt.
8. McGuire.
9. McCullough.
10. Parker. (C)
11. Glenn.
12. Thaiday.
13. Gillett.

14. Granville.
15. Hannant.
16. Kennedy.
17. Wallace / Oates.
