POST GAME Round 9 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

The Broncos ought to try and spread the field more and use their speed, foot-work and skill-set of their forward pack to try and catch the opposition out around the middle.

As a team, I think we can all agree that the Broncos still have a lot they need to fix up. However, there were some fantastic individual performances, particularly from Payne Haas. He's been doing some special things this year, and I think he took his game to another level on Friday. I don't think the Kangaroos have any fixtures this year which is a joke in of itself, but if they did, he'd be a part of the squad. In fact, by rights he should be in the NSW Squad for Game I either in the squad or as the first drop for the front row.

This is the key for mine. It's what the Roosters do so damn well, with their halves so often running 2 passes off their forwards with Tedesco lurking back in support. I recall we have also played like that, but suddenly it has stopped and reverted to one out. Against Manly, I seemed to remember Lodge shaping to pass then holding on and taking the tackle a number of times when the pass was on to spread the field.

Dare I say it, it was part of Bennett ball and it worked, and it played a part in our game plan in a few earlier games. We need, as BP says, to open up the field and have lots of support runners for the space and time our skilful running forwards create.

If our game plan features one-out running against the Roosters there will be few points in us I fear.

Named at hooker for both games ... Started on the bench ...

IIRC, Sammy Thaiday started at hooker

Yep, and Josh McGuire in another. Both times looked better when Jake came on.

You mean we looked better when we had a specialist hooker playing hooker instead of a prop ... I'm shocked
