Didn't know him as such but after seeing photo I know him as the big guy in the dugout.
Sorry to hear about his battle with depression, it is a nasty ailment and sometimes you just cannot see a way out.

My thoughts are with his wife and son

I've battled depression for a long time and have only gotten my mind back recently thanks to a combination of anti depressants and pot. It is not a good thing to have at all. It is a destructive, toxic force.

I wish his family all the best.
