Sam Thaiday

Exactly, it's a punishment for the suspension, not for missing a game...

"She knows the real me," he said.

"She knows I'm not the hard-headed footballer everybody sees on the field. It's settled me down a lot, getting my home life together and she has helped with getting my on-field stuff together.

"She's been a rock for me. The problem was I was happy being single and living the single life, which involved too much partying and not enough concentration on footy.

"I'm more settled at home now and it's helping my football. I was never really looking for a relationship but the timing worked out and it clicked."

Very good to hear from big Sammy T.

I like this part especially:

"She's been a rock for me. The problem was I was happy being single and living the single life, which involved too much partying and not enough concentration on footy.

Certainly paying dividends for him.

Im the first to put my hand up and say I didn't think Sammy T was a 'gun' forward but I will gladly eat humble pie. His form this year has been off the charts... he's killing it and I've never seen him play so good. The only negative I see from all this --> market value... we're going to need some room for Sam, Gillett's imminent increase etc.
the thing is, up until last year he was never really a 'gun' forward. he played the odd great game, but played more average ones where he just ran straight back at the markers.

last year he started changing that, and the results were fantastic. this year, he has just gone up a gear and is the best forward this year IMO. makes you wonder what the problem was for all those years? and whos idea it was to use him just as a battering ram directed back at the markers? **cough**bennett**cough**

Pfft. Develop.

Sounds more like he's relaxed that he's getting laid in a bed, rather than a toilet.

Hardly. Thaiday still has his opportunities to run it up the guts and he still dominates up the middle when he does.

3 years ago, he also had his opportunity to run wide and he didn't make half of the impact he did now.

Definitely attitude. Want proof? Look at his workload these days. His workload is MUCH bigger than it was 3-4 years ago. That's usually an indication that the player is putting in a bigger effort on the field.

80minutes in game 1 backs your point right there.
