Season 2016 is around the corner...It's time to heal

I agree with many on here. It was the way it happened.

If we lost by 10 and we were outplayed, we could brush it off as saying "we weren't ready, next year, we will be". Even if we lost like that in the semi, we might be able to say "we might not have won next week". But there's no way we can say we weren't ready because we were one fucking tackle away and I will never forget it, as much as I try.

The last time we lost like that in a do or die game, it was painful.. But I got over it. I can sit there and watch that game again.

But losing a Grand Final when you're 1 tackle away from winning it.. 1 fucking tackle. That pain will never go away.

Haven't talked about the GF loss yet. What hurts for me the most is we might never get that opportunity again, Premierships are hard to win and success isn't guaranteed. Sure, we might be the favourites this year but that doesn't mean shit. We were winning after the SIREN!!! was going off and only had to defend one last play, still found a way to lose.

Another thing. I don't blame Hunt for that dropped ball, it never should have gotten to that point.

This for me is a painful memory but also a cherished one. I got to see the greatest game, played in the most exceptional fashion. It was uninhibited, brutal, honest and courageous Rugby League that all 34 men played that day.

It came down to mere inches, a razor wire cut that finished the battle. A king received his crown and his legend will forever be before him. A prince fell but his legend will be fashioned from the molten steal of his defeat, he will return stronger, wiser and the hunger in his bones will drive him, fuel him and if it does not consume him he will bring glory to the brown and gold.

“Defeat is for the valiant. Only they will know the honour of losing and the joy of winning
I am not here to tell you that defeat is a part of life: we all know that. Only the defeated know Love. Because it is in the realm of love that we fight our first battles – and generally lose.
I am here to tell you that there are people who have never been defeated.
They are the ones who never fought.
They managed to avoid scars, humiliations, feelings of helplessness, as well as those moments when even warriors doubt the existence of God.’’
Paulo Coelho

While I agree it was painful and share your general view I question if it was the greatest game? I wouldn't go that far especially when it comes to grand finals, I found the 1989 Grand Final superior personally which was truly epic in how it played out from start to finish. The Steve Jackson try alone justifies it.

It hurts that Hodgo didn't get his (deserved) fairytale finish. I kind of think that it has a lot do do with it too. He won't ever get that back.

And wins can suck too, sure Lockyer kicking the field goal against the Dragons in 2011 was epic but losing him for the next game, it felt like a case of winning the battle and losing the war.

Or he can look at it that he captained the side that put respect and hunger back into the jersey and finished his rep career on a high. I have seen other players finish in far worse positions finishing their careers. Yow Yeh for example didn't even get an opportunity to hit his peak.

Good point.

This Grand final didn't hurt. I was too in awe of the dramatics unfolding. Was truly epic. We played pretty shit really compared to other games. Didn't deserve the win after the way we changed our tactics with 20m to go. Milford was amazing. Cowboys were lucky. We lost that game. They took advantage.

Glad JT got his moment though. I couldn't respect or rate another player higher.

I don't think we played shit outright, just periods during the game that really with hindsight proved costly and as such with reflection I don't even blame Hunt for the knock on as costing us the game(that doesn't mean he didn't make mistakes in other areas either), it didn't as we should have never even been in that situation. The main thing is to reflect and build on our strengths and address our weaknesses from 2015 and not dwell on what wasn't to be.

Yeah i agree with that completely

It wasn't even close to the best grand final ever. The team that lead for 80 minutes played shit, whilst the other team got every 50/50 call and laid all over the opposition. **** that video, **** the Cowboys and **** Thurston

The only thing that still upsets me about the Grand Final is that on facebook there are still very unfunny memes and jokes about Ben Hunt's blunder. Can they just **** off, that is just part and parcel of being a Rugby League player. It's a lesson that Hunt has learnt and remember what a good year he had and the role he plays in the team.

**** Thurston and **** the cowboys
I hope we put 50 on them every time we play them this year.
I don't need to watch the replay because I was there. I hope Hunt takes Thurston rep jumpers this year

Dude. . You guys need to calm the **** down

NO WE DON'T. NEVER FORGET.

That's right morkel
They are no longer our friends, they are public enemy no 1 and we must crush them.
