Seibold signs with Broncos for 4 years

This is never going to end until the club gets the swap done. If the Bunnies go on a losing streak they have a story if we go on a winning or losing streak they will play both sides, why did we get rid of Wayne, why didn't we do the swap.

Everyone has an opinion on it and the media have this story exactly where they want it with claims and counter claims but nobody wants to STFU and see what happens.

We HAVE to make it happening ASAP.
New coach Anthony Seibold faces unprecedented battle with Kevin Walters loyalists at the Broncos

NOVEMBER 01, 2018
ANTHONY Seibold is walking into a political powder keg at the Broncos.
He will need a hide as thick as the university books he once studied to survive the flying shrapnel and bring the glory days back to the Broncos.
Never before in Brisbane’s glittering 30-year history has its appointed coach been subjected to such venom, antagonism and pessimism before having a chance to prove his legitimacy.
Kevin Walters and Gorden Tallis are close mates and bleed the maroon of the Broncos.
The scary part for Seibold is the enemy within.
Wherever you look, Broncos legends are putting the boot in.
Gorden Tallis, Kerrod Walters, Chris Johns and Glenn Lazarus have come out swinging, the volley of punches aimed not so much at Seibold but club hierarchy for their treatment of favourite son Kevin Walters.

Either way, the ripples of discontent still have a flow-on effect for Seibold, who will have a tough enough job batting after Bradman (or Bennett) without an army of Broncos greats sniping from a distance.
When Wayne Bennett was appointed Brisbane foundation coach in 1988, millions of proud Queenslanders were hoping their shiny new toy the Broncos would stick it up the arrogant snobs from Sydney.
Ivan Henjak came to the Broncos without any real public opposition.
When Ivan Henjak was named Bennett successor in 2009, there were raised eyebrows but no furious opposition.
As small as Alfie Langer, you almost wanted to hug pint-sized Ivan.
When Anthony Griffin replaced Henjak in 2011, he was a mystery man to many, which bought Hook time to try to put a premiership stamp on the Broncos.
But Brisbane poor handling of the Bennett succession plan, coupled with hierarchy bitter fallout with the super coach over how to manage his exit, has left some terribly unfair turbulence for Seibold.
The Walters snub may linger at Red Hill for some time but ultimately all that matters now is this: can Seibold get the job done?
While Anthony Seibold has done well at the Rabbitohs, he didn win anything in the second tier of rugby league.
Critics will point to Seibold resume and suggest not.
History shows coaches who win premierships in the second tier invariably win titles in the big league.
Bennett won premierships in the Brisbane State League before his glorious reign at Red Hill. Paul Green won two Intrust Super Cup titles before breaking North Queensland 20-year drought.
Seibold has not won a title at any level, although his superb performance this year in steering Souths to a grand final qualifier is evidence he has the work ethic, tactical guile and intellect to rise to the challenge.
Coaching the Broncos is the ultimate challenge.
One suspects Seibold must win games and friends quickly before the enemy within demands a Red Hill revolution.

Well those old boys have nothing to do with the broncos anyway other than being has been past players. Especially that knob Tallis who has absolutely zero pull in anything broncos related.

Seibold new world: But old walls could be stumbling block in Brisbane
By Phil Lutton
3 November 2018 — 2:45pm
On the face of things, Anthony Seibold has earned himself an exceedingly sweet deal. After years of doing the hard yards behind the scenes, he was an NRL coach for one year before being given the keys to the biggest club in the land.
He loved being at South Sydney and Rabbitohs fans, in turn, quickly embraced him as he took them from a fringe eight prospect to a proper grand final threat. They finished one game short with enough upside to suggest they should be around that mark again in 2019.
Going places: Rabbitohs coach Anthony Seibold, with his Dally M coach of the year award, will swap clubs with Wayne Bennett in 2020 - or before.

But he would have been certifiable to knock back the Broncos when they finally laid out an offer for his services. From 2020 (nudge, nudge, 2019, wink, wink) he will return to his home state to guide Brisbane on a four-year contract.
For the likeable 44-year-old, it's a dream outcome. But he would be wise to sleep with his eyes open whenever he finally takes up the post. Not everyone has been thrilled about his appointment, not the least of which are the cabal of old boys that regard his hiring as not necessary, not shrewd and, most of all, not Kevin Walters.

Aside from small and unremarkable stretches when Ivan Henjak and Anthony Griffin were running the show, Red Hill has been Bennett's domain. He lives and breathes the history of the place; you can't speak of one without the other.
Even the past players who don't hold a particular fondness for him recognise the foundations Bennett had laid. When Griffin was starting to lose control at the club, he was accused of eroding the "pillars" Bennett had put in place. That would turn out to be a fatal sin.
How, then, should Seibold proceed when he arrives and tries to shape the moving parts to his liking? For everyone hoping he can create the kind of momentum he did at South Sydney in just his first season, there will be others watching his every step like a hawk.
Ex-players, such as Chris Johns, Shane Webcke, Steve Renouf and Glenn Lazarus, have been particularly vocal during the past week. Johns said Broncos chief executive Paul White should be sacked if the Seibold recruitment, a move he considers a clear gamble, backfires.
Lazarus has been on the warpath as well, mostly because he was in the corner of his former clubmate and friend Walters, the Maroons Origin coach who missed out on the gig he wants more than anything in rugby league.
Others have wondered why Bennett needed to go at all, or why his request for an extension to his coaching tenure at the Broncos was denied. Surely, they argue, he has done enough to be afforded the luxury of going out on his own terms?
Inside the club, relationships with Bennett have been strained, so it's unlikely that the voices of some former greats will have someone such as Darren Lockyer, a board member and a key part of the Seibold hire, second-guessing his football nous.
But they will only be amplified if Seibold makes any early missteps whenever he takes charge, or when he inevitably challenges some of the traditional conventions Bennett set in place. Many who have been through the club see those as a rugby league version of the Ten Commandments.
A four-year deal suggests the Broncos board clearly sees Seibold as the man to take them well beyond Bennett. Like he did at Souths, he will be tasked with shaking up a system that could do with a fresh set of eyes if the Broncos are going to become anything other than perennial finals participants.
For all the respect Bennett still commands at Red Hill, there is a desire for things to change, on and off the field. Seibold has been seen as a far more willing media commodity than Bennett and someone who can open the club to new sets of fans and sponsors.
It's a one-team town – not forever, surely – but even within the city there's a large portion of fans who actively resent the club for its sense of entitlement and blanket coverage from the publications of its News Corporation owners.
Seibold may be able to soften that image to an extent, but will have to do so with the kind of scrutiny that doesn't exist even at a historical heavyweight club such as the Rabbitohs. Brisbane and the club's supporters expect to be the biggest and the best. The latter has been missing since 2006.
The easiest way for Seibold to convince some of his high-profile doubters would be to guide the Broncos to a premiership. To them, the existing drought of 12 years seems like a curse.

Good luck Seibs.

I love all these guys like Johns and Lazo that are coming out saying that if Seibs fails then White must be sacked. I can guarantee that if we do win a premiership these wankers will be the first in there to try and soak up the glory.

Anthony Seibold set to return to Redfern but future remains clouded
NOVEMBER 03, 2018
THE spotlight on the NRL’s contentious coach-swap between Anthony Seibold and Wayne Bennett is about to intensify with South Sydney’s coaching staff due to return to work on Wednesday.
A crucial 72 hours for both clubs is set to unfold with Seibold — despite being bound for Brisbane in 2020 — returning to Redfern for the first time since the Dally M coach of the Year announced his move home to Queensland with the Broncos.
South Sydney have stated they’re willing to stick with Seibold for the upcoming season, however in reality most believe the situation in untenable.
That sentiment has only intensified in recent days after Rabbitohs general manager Shane Richardson flew from Sydney to England last week - where he was expected to meet in-person with Bennett before returning this week.
Bennett has publicly declared his motivation is to remain in charge of the Broncos for 2019 - yet privately, he and his advisers are acutely aware that a move south to the Rabbitohs immediately would prove the most effective outcome for both parties.
Already, Bennett has been forced to deny he’s been working as a double-agent by attempting to lure Trent Merrin to his future club, the Rabbitohs.
The pressure is on both clubs to urgently resolve the matter given Seibold could be forced to return to work on Wednesday at Souths before then being let go to join Brisbane at the point of which Bennett and the Broncos have determined their 2019 plans.
The Rabbitohs playing group aren’t due to return to pre-season training until November 12 - yet the majority of players have told their managers they have no clue who their coach will be next season.
Brisbane’s 2019 preparations will also commence next Thursday with assistant coach Jason Demetriou in charge of a collection of second-tier Broncos, in Bennett’s absence.
Bennett isn’t due back to the Broncos from his England coaching commitments until November 15 - three days after the Rabbitohs players are scheduled to commence pre-season training under Seibold.

Lets just hope the swap is made sooner rather than later.

Apart from a messily piss in the bucket million dollars (says with a hint of sarcasm), we just can’t keep Wayne at the club as our head coach. I’ve been a fan of the “CLUB” since day dot and whilst the club has made a few forgettable decisions, it’s fair to say history will show the clubs overall decision making has been great.

I also don’t buy into the whole lets give Wayne his last hurrah fairytale ending. Did anybody watch our last game???????

48-18, embarrassed by “HUNT” in front of a packed SUNCORP stadium FFS. We just weren’t prepared for the onslaught

Sure we had no Bird, Gillett, but there best player played with a busted shoulder and was out early into the second half

Lets face it Wayne won’t change. Under Wayne we play the same predictable footy. Good enough for the first 24 rounds, just not enough in the finals

We have zero to gain from Wayne staying. It’ll be destructive, he’s salty, dirty and in recruit mode. He won’t be thinking of US fans when he’s poaching our players, so why should we “fans of the CLUB” be sympathetic to him? We are all great full for all that he has achieved under our great clubs resources, but for the betterment of our club it’s time to move on now.

When people get given notice, find a new job or even have holidays coming up the hand brake always gets pulled. It’s human nature. I am finding it really hard to believe Wayne will be 100% focused on the broncos anymore. This drop in interest will only trickle down to the players.

Frank Ponissi believes Anthony Seibold can take Brisbane to glory from the start of his tenure
Long-serving Storm football-operations chief Frank Ponissi is adamant Seibold will not fail when he replaces Wayne Bennett at the Broncos, possibly as early as next season.
Brisbane have signed Seibold on a four-year deal from 2020, although the Souths mentor may find himself at Red Hill as early as next year if Rabbitohs and Broncos bosses can broker a coaching straight swap.
Seibold was coaching Intrust Super Cup club Mackay Cutters in 2012 when Melbourne swooped, placing him in their system as the club’s under-20s mentor the following year.
He spent another two years with the Storm in development before shifting to Manly and then Souths, whom he steered to a grand-final qualifier last season in his maiden campaign as an NRL coach.
While the 44-year-old from Rockhampton is relatively inexperienced in NRL terms, Ponissi believes Seibold can handle the pressure of succeeding Bennett.
“I have no doubt Anthony can bring success to the Broncos,” Ponissi said.
“It was a massive decision for the Broncos because Kevin Walters would have been an outstanding candidate as well.”
Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy was impressed with Seibold’s man-management and thirst for knowledge and Ponissi believes Broncos players will respond to his style of coaching.
When Walters looked to appoint Seibold as his assistant in the Queensland Origin set-up two years ago, Storm and Maroons champion Cameron Smith backed the move.
“Guys like Cameron Smith and Billy Slater (retired Storm fullback) were always impressed not only with Anthony’s knowledge but his clarity of message and composure,” Ponissi said.

No one gives a **** what Ponissi thinks. Don't know why they'd reach out to that flog for comment.

The media must love the situation, they can literally just re-hash the same story every few days.

"Situation untenable"
"Why Wayne must go"
"Why Seibs can't stay!"
"Why Wayne deserves a farewell"

Easy as **** stories for the entire season.

Yep,

I said it before, (assuming money isn’t an option) you don’t publicly bitterly divorce your partner after 20 plus years of marriage and then decide to live together for 1 more year. This is a business and sentiment aside our club has to make a decision on what’s best for the club and whether parting way with 1 million dollars is worth a fresh start.

I’d be astounded if Wayne is here to start the season.

So they do some work and talk to a former employer and his first NRL club for insight and you complain but then complain they're not doing enough work for stories?

Got it.

Correct, that's exactly what I'm doing. That's like asking Google what they think of Apple's new Vice President. Asking a direct competitor is pointless stuff, it's filler at best. There's zero genuine insight.

If the guy had just worked for Google and gave him his start in IT I would think that would be worthwhile.

We’ve heard from 100 poorly qualified people on Seibold. I’m happy to hear from knowledgeable people that gave him his job.

Most people don’t give a **** or trust what anyone from the Storm says, which is primarily the issue. If Frank Ponissi told me to jump because I was about to be hit by a bus, I would most likely stay out and take my chances.
