Seibold signs with Broncos for 4 years

Bennett isn't a child. He will be supremely motivated to end his long tenure as a Bronco icon with success, it will be a great opportunity to shove it in the face of the people who forced him out. Seibold will have the same motivation, a poor season with Souths will have his welcome mat severely stained on his arrival to Brisbane Airport. Both men are mature adults earning six and seven figure salaries and they will focus primarily on their current job. Even if Bennett is only focused 85-90% on his current task, it still might be enough to get the job done.
See that’s just it; if anyone in any role is being paid a $1million salary, their professional focus must be 100% to their current employer unless the parties agree to some exceptions (in this case; SOO, national duties etc). Under no circumstances can it be even 1% with a direct competitor.

Suggesting that 85-90% is good enough is flat out ridiculous and a slap in the face to those paying to line his pockets - the fans.

If we’re only going to get 85-90% Wayne, then I’d rather 0% Wayne and 100% Seibold starting in 2019.

90% of WB is > 110% of Seibold iyam.

I just can't see how a coaching swap can happen this late in the piece without affecting us more than the bunnies.

To me it's not a straight forward 1-1 swap... there's also the support staff. You're asking them to come in to a new squad with none of their support staff from the previous year.

They'll also walk into new squads... there was talk last year about how Seibold changed the training approach for George and Tom, he was able to do that because he knew the players from being their assistant coach. He knows very little about the current squad and would be relying entirely on the support staff to guide him.

To me the change would be easier for souths as Wayne is an experienced campaigner and has done it before. The souths playing group would also be boosted by having someone of Wayne's stature leading them around. Plus Wayne would be walking into a playing squad primed for a premiership tilt.

On the flip side Seibold is a new customer to the coaching ranks and wouldn't immediately command the respect from the playing group. His techniques are also unconventional so it won't be an immediate transition for the playing group who are not accustomed to what he'd be hoping to implement.

I just don't see why broncos would potentially foot the bill to put themselves on the back foot.

Let Souths' roster age another year while ours matures and have Seibold come in with his support staff in place and a full preseason to hit the ground running.

Talk of Ben Cross replacing Furner as assistant to Seibold and then following him to Broncs in 2020. Only Rabbits forum chit chat. JD contract up end 2019 - might be awkward for JD to continue under Steins as they were both candidates. Much to do indeed.

33 and a third recurring.

That's infinity.

It's 33 point 3 recurring.

33 and a third recurring is just recurring thirds, which every 3 recurrences equals one, so infinity.

Ha ! Who actually gives 100% at work? It's impossible, you would burn out . Seriously some people!

I would argue though that Wayne has been doing 80ish% anyway given his role with the British side and this side has seemingly been going backward, so I don't think 85% would be enough.

Actually, it will be nice to have a head coach with no other coaching commitments.

Yes 33 and third. But thought it sounded better as I was only tongue in cheek taking the piss.

I’m noticing a trend with your posts.

1. Start post with exaggerated expression.
2. Don’t actually read and / or understand the post you’re replying to.
3. Criticise post and / or poster.
4. Add little or no substance to discussion.

If you don’t agree with what someone says, great. But perhaps try being less of a flog and actually contribute something of substance?

I guarantee you the board of every large company or sporting club expects their executive staff or coach, who they’re paying in excess of $1million per year, to commit 100% of their professional focus on their business (unless they mutually agree to do otherwise), not on their direct competition - which is what I said in my original post.

If you can’t understand how that is different to “giving 100% at work” then I can’t help you.

Certainly a few years ago, but now, it is quite literally an unknown.

We can only compare last season, and on that, Seibold had the better success.

Exactly. Whoever agreed to him coaching England should be sitting on the seat next to him next bus to Redfern.

Need to take your piss-taking a bit more seriously bud.

I give 100% of my attention and motivation during (and to) breaks

Coaching rep teams is what any good club would want any good coach to do.
It gets them in and around the best players in the game, which would only help recruitment, as well as their own professional development being in/around different support staff.

So our current coach is coaching the Poms, so when they want to play in the NRL they all go to Canberra. I get it.

I think you’ll find that you didn’t read @morkel’s response with the appropriate ‘tongue-in-cheek’ tone that he intended. Nothing mean buddy, but maybe it’s you who needs to lighten up?
Agreed - got it.
