Some very harsh opinions going on in this thread you would have thought, and I can't help but wonder if there is still a bit of leftover animosity being directed towards this kid over the podcast comments.
Yes, the incident with refusing to take the bomb during the Dolphins game was bad.....but it didn't lead to any real benefit for the Phins apart from another set on our line, and Cobbo scored a try and came damn close to scoring a second. What exactly does he have to do to earn the fans respect back? Lick Kevvie's shoes clean? He is easily our best option for one of the wing positions in a very crowded field.

I still haven't watched the podcast, I turned it on for 10 seconds heard them talk and noped the **** out of that shit, I would like to keep my brain away from liquid form.

This is exactly what's going on. Some people just can't handle any criticism of Kev, blows their mind he's not an NRL grade coach. Lucky AF we've got some good people around him, particularly this season now he's been forced to accept what DD wants, not what he wants.

Pretty sure he is an nrl grade coach, by virtue of... he's the headcoach of the broncos.
But yeah, I don't really care that he was publicly trashing kev specifically. It's more the fact a 20 game teenager shared a negative opinion of his coach publicly which made me a bit perplexed.
Ultimately I think that it shows more about cobbos stupidity than it does kevs ability to coach.

As for your opinion on Walters criticism, it’s also not true. What Cobbo did on that podcast was flat out dumb, and as a Broncos fan I’m tired of all the idiots this club has had over the years putting more pressure on the club than necessary.
Who are the good people around him that weren’t there last year that DD decided to bring in? Walters friend Lee Briers?

Well yes seeing as I said my issues are the podcast you have guessed correct.
In terms of how long it will take to earn fans respect back that will be individual for everyone. It seems like he has most peoples respect back already, which is great. For me I know it will be a long time if at all because for me it was so outrageous. I personally also don’t think his apology was sincere. There is still apart of me that thinks he doesn’t think there is anything wrong with it and just apologised because he had to. The incident he came across like he thought he was 2 kool 4 skool.
My bigger worry is that he wasn’t really punished or disciplined for this. I think it’s all well and good well things are going well but if fall into a losing streak I think that’s when things like this cause issues in teams. I hope I am wrong.
Having said all that that is my problem and no-one else’s and shouldn’t have said what I said.

Don't understand the hype for Cobbo, but don't understand the hate either.
At the moment he's a young kid learning to play the game. I personally haven't seen anything from him that suggests to me that he will be a superstar but he also hasn't been diabolically bad and worthy of the kind of hate some here have for him.
I think he's currently a fringe first grader who is being hyped beyond all belief way ahead of time. He's a project and it's worth the investment at the moment, but he has alot of work to do. I think the unreasonable expectation on him to be a superstar magnify some of his (admittedly very stupid) mistakes, and I also think that his easy-going nature can easily be misinterpreted to make it seem like he doesn't care or pay attention or have the drive to improve.
I have the exact same opinion on Suaali (who has never impressed me at all) and Coates who I think has stagnated and failed to improve as a player even in the strong Storm system.

I don;t think anyone valued Cobbo's opinion enough to even care what he actually said about KW.
It was the fact he was talking out of school, publicly.... he could have criticised anyone in the coaching/playing staff IMO....and he would have been met with much the same reaction from the fans.

I think the Qld and Australian selectors have a different opinion .
Judging by that they selected him in the Qld team , then the PM`s 13 . I`d say he is one of the top 4-6 wingers in the comp . And one of the best 2 from Qld .

They're entitled to their opinion, and at the time he was playing to a much higher level than he was now.
Would they pick Cobbo for origin based on his level of play over the end of last year and beginning of this year? It will be interesting to see... I wouldn't.
