I didn't think about the lane assist when it comes to Ezra having the smash. I wonder how he managed to veer across the road like he did.

I do wonder about the millions of drivers on pain killiing medications , barbituates and mental health drugs . Why there are not more people driving on the wrong side of the road . If drugs are what make you drive on the wrong side of the road ...

Another thing that could of played a part is the lane assist feature on those newer rangers, I've driven one for work and a few times it's wanted to put me into on coming traffic or into parked cars on the side of the road. I would always just turn it off because I thought it was dangerous.

Obviously Ezra should still be paying attention while driving but a small lapse in concentration or hands off the wheel and the car could shoot you off to where you shouldn't be and if you haven't got much driving experience you panic and accidents happen.

I am sure the experts at the Broncos have spoken to him about it, before what happened & it looks like he did stuff all to address it.

That's pretty much equivalent to a "no fault stand down".... but they haven't really worked out as far as cap relief.

JDB was on stand down for however long and theoretically dargons had access to cap relief for him, but I think the uncertainty around timeframes for court dates, etc. makes it hard across the board.

If dragons went and grabbed someone, but then all of a sudden JDB's case is dropped then what happens with the cap?? They'd have two players on the cap all of a sudden... so it wouldnt really be fair to dump the guy you brought in, but how do you have assurance with them for how long you can contract them for.

Thinking more about players that took their own lives when they didn't get a gig after Toyota Cup.

It's an extreme example, but it exists and has happened when a young person's life is flipped upside down.

It could be considered that the NRL actively put these people in the spotlight, because it is beneficial to them to have stars of the game prominent in media, etc. hence requirements for mandatory media commitments, etc. therefore they have some responsibility to them.

Cutting Ezra entirely from the NRL until 2029 (as Crawley suggests), pretty much kills his career and cuts him off from support networks that NRL have available to them... going down that line would be a very high risk to the NRL, given they are aware of the consequences that can occur when you flip a young person's life like that.

Removing Ezra from the NRL doesnt automatically disassociate his name from the NRL... whatever he would do moving forward would be as "former NRL star" and that is a risk to the NRL.

If he is sacked, & can't play for years, the only person to blame is Ezra.

Obviously Ezra never took up the support networks that are available.

Walsh is more in the limelight than Ezra & so far the hasn't gone off the rails.
