Back-ended contract like Folau is on with us.

but a base salary of 50k means they are going to have to pay him absolute crazy money in the second year of his contract but he could get decent money if he came to us

dont forget Storm will still have to pay some for him.

I don't know where everyone is getting this Inglis should play fullback idea from. Inglis was a great fullback when he was in grade and first at the Storm - and probably would have been one of the best ever fullbacks had he stayed there. However his build etc now is not suited for him to play fullback and also given the amount of time he has been away from the position, I genuinely believe he would fail at fullback now. IMO his best position is definitely centre.

fail might be a strong word. i dont think he would fail at any position cept maybe prop. hes a natural athlete

I use fail in the way that a large majority on here use it - ie if you are in a Broncos jersey and don't single-handedly win every single match then you have failed.

Who needs to stop trying to outeat Weyman. If he trimmed down a bit and got the ball regularly, which he would at the Broncos I reckon he would carve. Just imagine him on the kick return it would make Hodges 2006 fullback stint look mediocre.

Having said that I still think this is all a gee up by Coxy [icon_razz1

what i find funny is how people say he needs to lose weight, when he is still one of the quickest and hardest to tackle guys in the league.

Im not saying he's a chunkoid but just needs to strip some of the excess to make him that much more LEGEN wait for it DARY!

He always starts the season carrying pudding. Probably comes down to being a bit of a lazy trainer (oh, goody, just what Hodgo needs)...but during the season he slims down and gets better as it goes on.

Ok, in all seriousness I heard that Owen Craige is making a return from the NRL and wants to join Brisbane.

So that makes 32 players "coming" to Brisbane, that means we might have some depth

Who ate all the pies?

Owen Craigie ate the pie shop.

Yeah, he was so busy eating he forgot to go to training with the South Newcastle Lions in 2006 so they sacked him. Just what we need...

Just a thought..if melbourne are releasing these guys from their list do they (melbourne) get any say in where these guys might or might not end up. I realise that this is unpreecedented r.e. releasing people due to being majorly over the cap but im thinking of others who have broken their contracts (sonny bill comes to mind) where the club they have left has had certain stipulations written in. Also I'm thinking that say Brisbane offer Inglis 400k for 2011 and Penrith offer 450k could melbourne say he goes to Penrith because they're still paying some of his contract and its 50k less they have to pay. I mean melbourne could be severly f*cked if canberra offered inglis 650k and he went to us for 250k.
I say canberra cause i doubt anyone would want to go there

the NRL should just Void every Storm contract, give them 1 month to sign whoever they can back on and then pay out the ones who leave.

Do you know how complicated what you're saying is?
Legal side of it..... How time consuming it is??
No way that would work.

What do you suggest? Let them play footy until September and then worry about it?

Because right now i have not heard the Storm say anything other then "We will take pay cuts" or "we will sue the NRL" both plans that won't work. Time consuming will be a problem no matter what, a month has almost passed and they have the same side still.

complicated, if they can handle 2 books they can handle this.

Legal problems, They pay out anyone who is forced to leave the same thing that will happen now anyway. The players that want to stay will be happy to take a pay cut, The players who don't want to stay will have their contracts at other clubs paid for in part by the Storm and could end up earning more.

i really hope slater and or inglis come to the broncos, just so i can see the backflip on here when everyone all of a sudden forgets that they "hate" them

I'm a Slater Hater from way back. There are certain things that I don't like about him (eg. dirty tactics) and, because he plays for another team, I choose to focus on those. Half the fun of following a professional sport is the whole heroes and villians dynamic.

That being said, there are things I admire about him (like his never say die attitude). If he ends up at the Broncos then I'll choose to focus on those and no doubt begin to like him.

There are plenty of Broncos players who I have loved, but who I'm sure I'd hate if they played for another team. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite - whatever. They're all just characters in a big production to me, I figure I can feel however I want about them. If I met them in the street then I certainly wouldn't pre-judge them on their "football persona" (with a couple of notable exceptions like Gallen and Bird).

To be completely honest, if I had to pick between Slater and Inglis then I think I'd take Slater. Inglis has a questionable attitude and that's the last thing we need at the Broncos right now, especially with all the young guys around. At least you know Slater's always giving 100%.

Slater is consistent, he kicks people in the head often!
