Smith takes his broom to Roosters

Long-serving Sydney Roosters trainer Ron Palmer is the first casualty of the new regime under coach Brian Smith, and chief executive Steve Noyce confirmed last night there could be more staff changes.

Palmer, one of the most recognisable faces in the game after more than 20 years with the Roosters and NSW Origin team, was told yesterday that his services would not be required next season.
