I don't agree with this, and if this is the attitude he keeps using, especially if we have a few loses, all it's going to do is make moral in the group worse, not better.
I agree with it. He is making the young players accountable for the loss. Sure they are inexperienced, but he is actually trying to make them believe that they should be good enough to win these games without the big guns, which they obviously are because they came so close. If he said that he expected to lose and that he was happy with the competitive loss then that would reinforce to the players that they aren't on level pegging with teams like Melbourne. By demanding they step up to the plate and not settle for second best, it is making them rise to the next level and become confident in the fact that they can compete with the best. I'd be surprised if Griffin wasn't privately very happy with how the team played against Melbourne, but he is just letting it be known that we shouldn't get caught up in the great performance because in reality they still lost. I agree if we have a few losses and the players lose confidence his attitude could have an effect, but I really think he is letting the players know that they are definately good enough to win these games without their starsNashy said:Bucking Beads said:"There's no honourable losses. It all depends in which way he brings it.Nashy said:Bucking Beads said:"There's no honourable losses. A loss is a loss," Griffin said. "We fought really hard but we had to do too much fighting.

it's the culture and spirit in this team that is special..
Gus reckons we are certainties to win the comp next year. Hopefully he's right.
I am on that wagon also. I think once Lockyer goes the kids we have will realize how good they really can be.
