Special props to Daniel Vidot

Off the top of my head, I honestly can't remember. But someone was posting here, talking about how good he would be, and posting in a way that you just knew they knew him. When we asked, it was confirmed that she was his sister, and that he was looking forward to coming home to his family in Brisbane. And she also said that he would come back to his best up here.

Thanks mate, she was right

Loved your post and couldn't agree more. He has some real venom in his runs which we've desperately needed for some time.

I like this point though. I didn't see Vidot all that much at his previous clubs. Does the guy have speed? Watching the Rabbitohs game, I counted at least twice he was unmarked but couldn't get the ball. He seems to relish the physical contest but would love to see him in open space.

I really like how you put that. I agree with everyone that he has actually been the best signing we got in the off season through pure performance (bar the dropped try against dragons).

I cant praise him enough and i hope he continues his form. At the moment, there shouldnt be anyone taking his spot, and the person that should lose it is Reed and Hoffman can slot in there if he is still around.

Honestly, if he sheds the weight, gets some speed back, remains consistent and strong invaluable player for the Broncos, i wouldnt mind seeing him in the QLD jersey. Just sayin' :takdir:

Don't really want to make a new thread for this, but just curious.. Who do you guys think our fastest player is?

Maybe.. Copley? Maranta? Hoffman?

Barba from 2012 could probably give them a fair run, but not this season, Milford will almost certainly be our quickest player next year.

I'm thinking Copley.

I will remind everyone that I led the call that he would be an awesome signing, and because of that I am going to take some of the credit for how well he has performed.

If he is to lose weight, I hope it's only a couple of kegs, as it's his size that is allowing him to get our sets off to such a great start. There were a couple of times last year that he got some room to move and while he's no Titans winger, he's no Luke Covell either.

If Maranta ever made a line break he is actually very fast.

Last year he did - and was slothlike. We're all hoping that he wasn't exaggerating when he said that the extra weight slowed him down and under Corvo he's a lot faster.

Sorry, he WAS actually very fast then :P

Ha, only a matter of time before somebody tried to take credit. :001_tt2: My original post started with me attempting to do the same, but the more I thought about it, it seemed like everybody on here wouldn't have minded his signing. Especially after Yow Yeh went down.

Great post OP!

Couldn't agree more. He's easily our best signing in years, IMO.

Fastest at our club? Copley or Maranta. Hard to judge Barba at the moment. Copley put good ground on Inglis when he streaked away and was matching Greg at full stride. Likewise, Maranta matched Greg at full flight too.

Or Josh McGuire. Always seems to be there when someone makes a break haha. I remember reading that Tom Learoyd-Lahrs was one of the fastest at the club when he was here. Track champion or something.

Jake Granville might actually be one of the fastest too. Or Stewart Mills.

He has been killing it. I think it's hilarious that my Dragons loving mate was laughing at the Broncos for signing him because he never comes looking for the ball to make metres to relieve the pressure. He has done the exact opposite, love his runs and how he fights for every metre. Livin la Vidot loca!

That's gonna catch on for sure.

This is a case of chicken and egg my friend because I too was singing his praises across the forums. I will however relent and let you have this one.....given you always come first......

You can thank your wife for that one.

Vidot is just about the perfect size I think. I'd like to see what happens when he starts getting some quality ball before I start trying to trim him down.

It's somewhat refreshing that the majority of our points have come from good tight passing at the line, rather than the P.Wallace special (kick for the corner on the fifth). Hopefully we can work this in a little for variety? I've seen Vidot score some decent tries from kicks before, though his defence in the air has proven lacking.

If we didn't have a good range of options there already, I'd think he'd be a good fit for the backrow, given his work rate and ability to bend the line. He'd probably do a better job at prop than Kennedy too. Given he's a long term wing option though, I think he could stand to be a wee bit leaner.

He has definitely been a good purchase for us.

I thought when Inglis sensed Copley, he put on the afterburners and Copley was gone hence his attempted tackle was largely at thin air.

Maranta on the other hand I thought was quicker than Inglis by a reasonable margin when he chased him down.

I want to see a lot of cross field kicks to Vidot. What a wasted asset.

Maranta seems like he would be fast over 100m but he has almost no elusiveness or acceleration. In fact, I don't really recall ever seeing any of our backs in space and thinking they were fast.

Hell, based on how our guys chase players who run away on kicks, Josh McGuire is probably our fastest!

I'd like to see Oates in full stride. He looks bulked up to last year where he was pretty damn fast. Just ask Uate.

(8 tries in 8 games. Sigh. Give Vidot quality ball is damn right and he might well do the same).

Bulked up or not, a player like Oates who has great strength, power and speed ought to be used where those qualities are best utilized.

How are we using Oates this year?
