Serious question.
Pound for pound. Man for man.
Is there a single QLD player who you’d pick in an Australian side tomorrow based on form or reputation?
Maybe Munster over Luai?
Could you pick Val Holmes over anyone of the NSW back 5?
Maybe Papailli as a senior bench prop? He ain’t rolling with any form but maybe he’s an old head?
Possibly Harry Grant (who didnt feature last night) on the bench?

Welch and Munster are the only two I'd pick, perhaps Papali'i also. If Grant wasn't constantly injured he'd go close.

They lived offside in the first 2 tackles of every set. It was awful footy.

Also, I wonder how much of this NSW team being the generation of kids who had to sit through 8 years of watching their team get decimated. They grew up in an era of suffering and have a lot more passion in the jersey then their previous counterparts? Whereas our boys grew up thinking all you have to do to be a QLD legend is put on the jersey.

Worthwhile remembering that the QLD'r passion was born out of years of getting flogged by NSW. Admittedly, NSW teams were full of QLDrs ...which made it even harder to swallow.

I guess right now we're experiencing the same passion from as you suggest, a generation of NSW footballers who had been getting flogged for 8 years...... this NSW team, seems a pretty tight unit. It almost appears as though they've finally got it right.

Green made the team watch a replay of the first game as motivation.
Didn’t Daniel Anderson while in charge of the Warriors pull a similar stunt at half time of a GF?

Anderson apparently had a pre recorded tape mock commentary of the Warriors winning the gf- pretty sure he said the wrong opponents too. Players didn’t respond well- particularly Campion

Man I mentioned it in the live game thread that Munster needed to roam. That nsw right side defence was so tight we just weren’t going anywhere down there. Paul green is a tactical dunce.

I was at the game (didn't get the refund, I'm a glutton for punishment it seems). I was sitting in 310 3 rows from the bottom, and the amount of times we had NSW shot on our right side in that first half was unbelievable.

But we constantly fucked it up by either playing the ball too slow or just not going that way. I don't recall Macca looking at the short side once.

Yep Macca killed every attacking set we got

Cleary is out of Game 3.

The scans on his shoulder weren't the best. He's off to a see a specialist to see his options. If it requires surgery immediately, it could be season over for him. In some cases, players have been able to delay surgery until the off-season. If that's the case, he's looking at a 3-6 week return.

That Sucks The Kid Mero GIF by Desus & Mero

For years Broncos fans had to put up with their season being derailed by Origin. Now it's potentially happening to Penrith you watch them change things and carry on about Penrith being robbed blah blah blah.

I wonder if future Broncos immortal Adam Reynolds gets an origin return?

Was Mitchell fined or anything for when he tried to take DCE’s leg off?
I can’t find any reports mentioning it.

Mulitalo could still play for QLD.

His eligibility is being reviewed. He was ruled out for Game 2 because Mulitalo and the QRL didn't have the time to provide the necessary documentation to prove he is eligible for QLD.

The claim by Mulitalo is that he was in fact living in QLD for 6 months prior to his 13th birthday before permanently moving to QLD at 13 years 10 months. He is working on providing proof to back up that claim.

The problem, however, is that on two of Mulitalo's contracts that he signed, he stated he in fact did not reside in QLD prior to his 13th birthday. In others, he stated he did reside in QLD prior to his 13th birthday.

The whole situation is one big clusterfuck. It has been made worse by Mulitalo due to the discrepancies in his contracts, but the whole saga of him being selected for QLD and then ruled ineligible on game day never should have happened.

Mulitalo also suffered a financial hit due to being ruled ineligible prior to Game 2. He has a clause in his contract that gives him a $25,000 bonus if he were to play Origin.
