"Storm Cloud" book details Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal

Sounds perfectly reasonable, and is probably a better summarised version of what I'm trying to say. However, there's no place for reason here, and there's not a single ironic lol or gtfo in there. If you want to join in this argument you need to step it up.
You're wrong, lol

Way to go fellas. All that hot air because I suggested the auditor assigns a value for a player !!!! I'll have to be careful in future, could lead to war. My point is though, Melbourne developed their own players and kept them illegally . There is no debate about that. They also were severely punished and although some feel they didn't suffer enough most fair minded people were satisfied. What they have achieved since has been fair and above board so any current criticism is not only unwarranted but unAustralian. Punishment served ,lets get on with it.

The fact they retained a few key players is of absolutely no significance and is just something for whiners to whinge about.

Sorry, they retained the most influential player in the game by cheating the cap, otherwise he would've been at the Tits. That is the single most important reason I don't agree they have been punished severely enough.

No one knows how things would've developed without Smith at the Storm, but I highly doubt they would've been so dominant!

Anyone who says otherwise is just a Bellamy / Storm apologist.

or they wouldve, you know, let go a few extra nuffies so they could keep smith.....

on account of him being the most influential player in the game and all that. but no im sure youre right, theyd just say "whoops looks like we cant afford to lose that 30 year old guy who couldnt get a game at any other team just so we can keep that cameron smith guy, oh well what can you do....". thats definitely what theyd do.

Bullshit, if that was the case, he would never have gotten that close to signing with the Tits.

Besides, while he was already a very good player, he wasn't as highly rated at the time as he is now!

But they didn't. They didn't have to deal with the retention that other clubs have to deal with, ie, said nuffies may still be contracted for another year or so, a few juniors need upgrading etc. They took the pussy way out. They just cheated. There's nothing to be applauded about how the Storm have continued on in their dominance. Unless of course you're easily impressed by cheap tricks.

in that case i think it was "close" like andrew johns was "close" to signing with union.

ie. he wasnt.

Sentences like that need to be cut out of everybody's repertoire on here.

It doesn't contribute anything to the discussion and it usually just escalates from there.

In other words, it's deemed as a bait and will be punished accordingly.

It was a joke in context to earlier in the discussion.

It should never have been brought up in the first place.

Be respectful of each other.

There was no disrespect. See for yourself, it was a joke...

In the future Morkel, if you have a problem with a mod issue then you must PM. Discussing it publicly is not the right place to do it.

With that said, I only highlighted Porthoz' post because it caught the crux of the problem. I was speaking in general terms.

If you have anymore questions, PM. Otherwise carry on with the discussion.

That's why Nathan Friend was told he was no longer needed?

"Titans lose patience with Cameron Smith, turn to Robbie Farah"

"It is understood the Titans withdrew their $3 million, five-year offer over frustration with Smith's new manager, Isaac Moses. Moses last week replaced Jim Banaghan, who negotiated the initial offer"

"Gold Coast managing director Michael Searle said yesterday he was concerned that the Titans were being used to drive up Smith's asking price at the Storm. The Queensland hooker is off contract at the end of next season."

doesnt sound like he got too close to signing to me. when the titans themselves think that they were never even in with a chance of signing him, is there really anything else to say?
