Moodie said former chief executive Brian Waldron, who has been described as the "architect" of the deceit, told him that "everyone was doing it", when he asked for an explanation.

"This was about if we want to be competitive, everybody else does it, we had to do it," Moodie said.

And that worries me. Are they?

You'd be naive to think it's not more widespread than just the Storm.

Well the NRL records show every team is doing it to an extent. Waldron to me comes across as a cocky bastard that pushed his luck.

Nah, it shows that, like most people in society with their tax returns, most clubs are making mistakes one way or another.

Deeper level cheating like the Storm...that's something else and I just think it's wrong to speculate that they are.

Why is it wrong to speculate? By definition speculation can't be wrong. I think we need to find out if they are or not.

How can one call himself a Rugby League fan and then sit here and defend a team that has embarrassed our game?
i became a rugby league fan because i love watching the game of rugby league. melbourne were the best team in rugby league for nearly 5 years. this does not change that fact.

and AGAIN with the misinterpretation!!!! i am NOT defending the team!! where have i been defending them?

oh and if you really think that the broncos and all the other teams 'make mistakes' when going over the Salary cap, boy oh boy you would believe anything.

lol. So because we believe one thing, and you believe the other, we're wrong? You could be just as wrong fool.

Melbourne were only the best team because they fucking CHEATED!

Agree 100%

He never once condoned the acts of this particular organisation.

All Salary Cap breaches should be brought to the public's attention with such NRL backlash and disgust as this has IMO. Regardless of severity and financial value (ala any previously recorded Brisbane breaches however minor). I know the majority disagree with myself and Anony in regards to this. Just my 2 cents worth.

dude, it's the pwn! He doesn't read threads!

I'm not an admin. Nor will I ever be an admin. But you interrupt a serious convo about something that's being discussed somewhere else.

Did you know that Hazem El Masri can tie both his shoelaces in 2 seconds flat?

Stuff the central cost. We need to expand into other states.

Correct. The Adelaide Rams were actually reasonably successful back in the day so they are worth another shot. The time could be right to resurrect the Western Reds too.

Storm are going to die. And so they should anyway. Don't need them in Melbourne, league in Melbourne will never be big and as soon as the Storm are losing they would fold. Glad it's starting to happen earlier rather than later.

No get a team in the Central Coast, long over-due.

The NRL needs Melbourne so the next tv rights deal is fully maximised, as Melbourne i the 2nd major city, which in turns attracts advertising revenue.

Why do we need to expand to other states? For the sake of doing it? Why? Let's put a team where there is actually some decent rugby league development. Let's raise a new thread for this.

TV revenue money hence News investment in Melb.

NRL and we only have teams in Sydney and Brisbane makes no sense to exclude the 2nd major city Melb.

Yes another team should be in Brisbane but Melb can'tbe ignored

Host Plus and Skins have also pulled the pin on their sponsorship with the Storm. I can't imagine why Skins didn't want to be involved with them anymore given their slogan is "Cheat Legal"...
