Storm Vs. Broncos - Build Up Thread

At training today glen was doing a bit of dummy half practice with two of the coaching staff and then they had him at like a first receiver number 7 role. He looked good passing left to right but not so good from right to left which is the way wallace passes when doing our second man plays to the left.
I don't think BHunt is gonna get the call up as at the end of training it was only Mcullough and Locky doing kicking practise. Who knows though, you've gotta love the mind games in the final.

Well the training sessions for the rest of the week are going to be 'closed' (apparently) - so who knows who will train where? We'll find out Saturday night I guess.

You also say they lack punch without J.Smith and Kaufusi LOLZ, Smith I agree is a huge loss but the emergence of Blair as a wrecking ball and the quality of Lima easily cover for this.

Pretty sure Blair will miss this one through suspension - another thing in our favour

I just double checked he is named, if he is out that is a huge plus for us he was unstoppable against Manly.

Hmmmm - I thought he copped a 1 week suspension from the Manly game and as Storm didn't play last week, this would have to be when he served it. But I am mostly likely wrong and just wishful thinking.

Hmmmm I can't remember the last time we resorted to wacky mind games. (I'm different really, I don't really care about them - whether they work or not is a diff story)

It looks like Henjak is a fan of them - fair enough.

Deliberately telling Te'o and using a player's name in the starting line up who will be dropped on the day... never been a big fan of that tbh.

ddd really needs to get off the crack pipe?

Nice post there from America-land goose "crack pipe"??? - if you bothered to read I admitted I was a bit harsh on smith - but I personally believe Cronk is overrated, so go to hell - and I don't think their forwards will be able to compete if we play the way we did the other night - so hows about you get off Melbourne's pole?

I'm not a Cronk fan either - I just think everything he does/produces is something that has been 'taught' or 'shown' per say. Cliche as it sounds - I see him more of a 'textbook' player - which is good... when everything goes as things are planned. Not the type of playmaker I'd go for but I must say having Finch at 6 really helps the team out.

It is Slater and Inglis who do the real damage anyway. You have to be 7+ with a minute to go to be assured of victory against the Storm... as we all know.

I never used to rate Cronk all that highly, but you can't deny his form this year. Put it this way, if Lockyer announced his retirement from rep footy, and they were picking an Origin side tomorrow, the Queensland halves would be Thurston and Cronk. And that's coming from someone who fucking HATES Melbourne!!!

I totally agree. I reckon they know they can't match it in the forwards with us so all they can hope for there is to minimise mistakes and hope they can outscore us.

To me, that means wearing our forwards out with Smith, Cronk and Finch constantly running up the middle, and also turning us around as much as possible with a good kicking game and hope that Slater and Inglis have blinders.

Yep - “You have to be 7+ with a minute to go to be assured of victory against the Storm... as we all know.” Definitely.

Cronk over Prince? Can't agree.

In that scenario, Thurston would be playing where he belongs - 2nd receiver.

Yup on current form, Cronk over Prince.

No thanks Jeba... No thanks!

rnabokov - that is the one thing about Slater/Inglis... they can just score from anywhere, anytime single handedly. They are without a doubt the BEST in the business. I'm not talking about Clutch play... Lockyer is the king and daylight second.

However - something out of nothing that melbourne duo is SCARY.

While Broncos coach Ivan Henjak has proved to be a straight shooter in terms of team selection this season, the Storm are far from convinced that Glenn, who last year captained the Broncos under-20s side to the grand final from lock, will actually step into the void left by the loss of Peter Wallace.

Henjak did nothing to silence the conspiracy theorists yesterday with under-20s halfback Ben Hunt and former Queensland hooker PJ Marsh prominent in playmaking roles and Glenn and winger Antonio Winterstein sitting out most of the session at Red Hill.

Glenn, 21, emerged briefly for passing drills with kicking coach Graham McColm and performance director Dean Benton before returning to the gym.

So what they'll do is confuse everyone, then play Glenn??

That's the point, WhoTF knows? LOL

As I said, people who have Broncos on twitter, follow them...one of them might let it slip (like Walker did a few weeks ago). The only people who will know who is going to line up will be Ivan and the players.
