ddd really needs to get off the crack pipe?

Nice post there from America-land goose "crack pipe"??? - if you bothered to read I admitted I was a bit harsh on smith - but I personally believe Cronk is overrated, so go to hell - and I don't think their forwards will be able to compete if we play the way we did the other night - so hows about you get off Melbourne's pole?

Agree to disagree on Cronk, but he is easily top 3 halfbacks in the comp.

And re: the forward battle, Melbourne absorbed everything Manly could throw at them and still had some left over. Games are won and lost up front and this one will be no different.

ps, is Israel marking Inglis or Chambers? Something nobody has really talked about is that Bellyache knows Izzys game inside out and would no doubt have a pretty good insight into his defensive deficiencies.

Agree on your last point, however with DT defending on the same side Izzy seems to be a lot more confident.

As for Cronk, I think he's definitely one of the top 3 NRL halfbacks. However, that's almost completely dependent on being in the same team as Smith, Slater and Inglis. If you plucked him out and put him in Parramatta's line up, he would fail without probably a season to get used to their style of play.

He's not a natural, by any means. Hence why I say he's "well drilled" but not a halfback. He's been well trained and coached and drilled to be able to play halfback for Melbourne Storm, and he would work in rep players where at least 2 of the 3 I mentioned are selected too.

Am I selling him short? Maybe, but I have seen very little from him to suggest he's naturally good at reading the play or actioning a "plan B" if their usual clinical game plan is being nullified.

I reckon we look stronger on paper even without Wallace. However the Storm are a champion team playing at home.

Broncos by 8.

I have never actually been this confident playing the Storm. I have a really good feeling that our roll won't end this weekend.

Oddly enough I feel the same Nashy. And I'm never really confident playing Melbourne. Despite the absence of Wallace I feel we're really underestimated by the bookies, journos and everyone else bar the Storm. Melbourne have had a soft lead in to this game and we're playing sensational footy. If we don't win we won't lose by much.

So you cancelled your flights, accom and tickets then?

Anyone going to the game?

I guess it's going to be pretty fricking hard to get flights & accommodation to Melbourne considering it's AFL Grand Final week (another kudos to the NRL nimwits)

I will definetly be going to the grand final if we make it. CMON BRONCOS!

Prediction: Broncos by 7. (19-12)

not much the NRL could do here... everyone wants the high placed teams to get the home games and the Storm were 1 of the to highest teams to win in week 1 thus earning the home game. their option would be to start the season in late feb so they have their GF 1 week before the AFL's.

What ever happenned to common sense? At least move the game to Sydney. I suppose that Melbourne people would find it difficult to get flights out too....hmmm.

It just shows how stupid it is having Melbourne in the comp.... [icon_lol1.

Do you mean that we look stronger without Wallace because of the 4 big men on the bench?
I think he means Stronger on paper than the storm.

That is what I'm thinking - "even without Wallace".

I get the feeling the bookies are writing us off because we havent seen the 'give it to Locky' Broncos in a long, long time. I just can't see us resorting to that tactic again when it has failed the team on so many occasions. On top of that, cliche as it sounds - it's a different team with totally different players... it won't happen. It wont be the reason we go down... IMO.

(PS - Don't completely agree about us being better on paper... you can't discount the fact the game is in Melb as well)

Damn! We don't have Ben Cummins.

Jared Maxwell and Shayne Hayne.

Broncos
Maxwell: WWLWWL
Hayne: LWWLWW

Storm
Maxwell: LW
Hayne: WWWLWW

Looks like we are due a win under Maxwell but a loss under Hayne.

Storm are due a loss under Maxwell and a loss under Hayne (I'm just making this up).

I just hope they don't allow the Storm to slow down the play the ball ridiculously.

Yeah than the Storm. I didn't discount the game being played in Melb heh "However the Storm are a champion team playing at home."

I just want to see our forwards do the job again, rip it up the middle, take away Cronk's thinking time and frustrate him into kicking every single time. WE CAN DO IT!!1
