One would think that the Bali incident may well have delayed any public acknowledgement of Fifita re-signing.
From a PR perspective, you don't reward alleged shenanigans with a rich contract. The media would have a field day. Especially after recent events and blowback over Lodge's signing.
I would hope that the right negotiations have taken place and a strategic announcement to maximise positive coverage.

He's also doing nothing wrong. His priority should be to act in his own best interest, all things taken into account. It's his life, and he only needs to look at Nikorima, Kahu and McGuire to see how the Broncos might treat him one day in return for his "loyalty."
The Broncos will have told him how long he has to make up his mind before they'll go to market for someone else. That's his real deadline. And he's been here long enough to get a feel for what being a prominent Bronco means in the area he's grown up, in terms of feels and third party deals.
Right now, he's the hottest unsigned player in the NRL. This is likely his career peak. Like Milford when he signed with Brisbane. His agent won't let him piss that bargaining chip down the toilet just to get it out of the road.
I can't see him heading down the Coast unless there's friction in the club or they're offering him so much money it snuffs out the added value of being a big dick in Brisbane.
We just have to accept this is about him, not us. Abusing him is not helpful. It's the exact opposite.

Maybe too many of the people on here live in Brisbane? How else can you explain people being honestly that out of touch with how the NRL and particularly the Sydney media in general actually works? The NRL is just about the most reactionary organisation on the planet and they love having their agenda dictated by the media outrage of the day.
If he walks off that plane in Brisbane with a new Broncos contract in hand, the NRL HQ would literally implode. The Broncos have been at this for over 30 years, they know full well what happens when they secure a player everyone else wanted, and when it also involves a questionable situation in Bali as the catalyst, the Sydney media just will not let that one go and we'll have them all over us for the next 12 months at least about it.
Far, far better for both player and club to play down the Bali involvement and let as much dust settle as possible before announcing anything. As others have said, this will be a substantial contract and will take time to iron out the details, so there really is no rush given there are basically 9 months to go on his current deal.
Let the off season end, the footy will start back up again, and the off season controversy will be largely forgotten as the next mid season controversy or NRL balls up hits the papers, and then we'll have a far, far better time to announce any sort of new deal for Fifita.
