Sydney papers - Dogs/Eels the real GF

Not a stretch at all, if either team that wins on Saturday night wins the GF wins 3 GFs in a decade - pretty much makes them the best team in the last 10 years.
Storm: 99, 07, 09
Broncos: 00, 06, 09.

Let's not forgot we've made the finals every year since what 1991? We're a model of consistency.

If we lose, it would be the worst grand final since....well since last year. Can't think of any sides I'd hate to be in the grand final more than Melbourne, Bulldogs or Roosters.

Spot on, used to be the Knights when Joey was there as well.

So if we lose you can cheer for Parramatta then [icon_wink

I'm telling you now Flutterby - The Sydney papers will absolutely cream their pants if the Eels win it. [eusa_doh

The ONLY positive from my POV is Hindy winning a GF cause he seems like a fair dinkum sort of fella. Still - I'da rather not see the Eels win it. Too much splash damage here in Sydney.

Melb, Roosters and us are the team of the naughties!
Meh the Roosters nullified anything good they may have accomplished by winning a wooden spoon. [icon_evillaugh

Oh yeah, I'd rather not see the Eels win it either - but agree with you about Hindmash, I'm a massive fan of his. And became even more so after meeting him and Nathan Cayless at Coffs a few years back and they played a practical joke on one of my friends, which I found hilarious.

But I really think the Dogs will beat them this w/e anyway and if it's a Dogs-Storm GF I'll be cheering for the Dogs

Parra winning it would be good for the game, but personally the frenzied media masturbation over that outcome would make me ill. It will be slightly less egregious if the Dogs get home but not enough to make me want to buy a paper.

The year 2000 is the last year of the 90s so it's clear to me that the Broncos are the team of the 90s decade. If Melbourne makes the GF they could reasonably called the team of the 2000s, not least because they have done it having to travel interstate every other week.

I'm perfectly happy to cheer for any of the 3 other teams over the eels. Obviously the ideal situation will be to be cheering for the broncos, but as long as the eels don't win, I'm at peace with whatever else happens!

Broncos Warrior titans and Cowboys go interstate a fair bit to :P

True but the Storm have won more than those teams in the 00s.

Going by the tele online today, you would swear that this was the grand final and that there wasn't another game tomorrow night.

This is all fine by me as the hype around this game will only benefit whoever wins our match as tonight's winner will feel they have already won.

I heard them talking on the footy show last night and I think dumbarse vossy said "all due respect to the broncos and melbourne...but this is the most important match of the year, this is really as good as the grand final...in the past you don't remember preliminary finals, but this is different...." paraphrased a bit but that's the gist of the first half an hour last night. [eusa_doh

I'm sure that if the team that wins tonight loses next week they won't be feeling that way.

I for one am cheering whoever wins out of the Storm & Broncos, this eels v dogs match has left me feeling ill.

Dunno if I will be switching on to watch the pre-game build up tonight either, I'd probably get nauteous watching the hoo ha and the carry on. :|

I agree with you on all points mrslong, it turns my stomach too. But I will say it's great to see so much hype and interest in our code in Sydney. It's good for the game.

I think it's a good thing and I'm looking forward to the game. Good on Sydney for getting behind it. Usually I bag out their poor crowds, but it will be awesome to see this one played in front of a packed house.
