Him leaving does not make sense tbh. It really doesn't.

Fair enough if he left for R360 who were offering multi millions of dollars or even Japanese rugby, he may of wanted to see the world and earn much more than we could offer him.

But to leave us now, after winning a premiership, right at the peak of our powers, he decides to leave to... South Sydney?! Wtf???

So he stays when we're wooden spooners, but leaves when he could stay and build a dynasty and win 2, 3 maybe more premierships with this squad.

I just don't get it.

I guess he just wants a fresh start and a new challenge maybe now that we won, I can see how that would be fun

I’m not getting the souths hype. Let’s see them put the runs on the board and keep a few of their ageing legs on the paddock this year and revisit in 12 rounds time.

Yeh that ain’t it. The clauses explanation could explain everything if true, Souths let him walk if the fairy dust from R60 or something else magical happens, otherwise the math ain’t mathing.

It does really. He seems like a guy who takes a lot of what the media says very literal. Every time they talk about the best props, they say Lazo because he won multiple prems and did it at multiple clubs.
He appears to want to be the greatest ever. He also seems to be a bloke that has different views on loyalty, leaving the Australian team, all the talk about leaving. He is all talk and yes he been loyal, but for good reason, he was getting paid well to stay and he wanted to win a prem here. Especcially after winning the spoon.

Difference is this isn't the 90s. There is no way Payne is winning comps at three different clubs. Lazo went from the Raiders in their prime to the Broncos hitting their prime to a Melbourne team that was also plump full of talent freed up with the NRL formation. I don't see Souths going the distance this year at all. He will likely be in Rugby before his contract ends.

Seems like a reasonable prediction. I’m placing what I consider to be logical decisions onto Payne Haas, so that silly of me.
 
What is this im hearing about a R360 clause in that new contract? Poison pill provision more like, no wonder DD baulked at it...
