no more origin in mid year!!! leave until the post season.

I don't agree with moving origin to the end of the season. but i think there is merit with again holding origin on a stand alone weekend. possible eliminating the byes and instead having them during the origin weekend.

They tried this back in 2001 and it didn't work. It just lengthened the playing season which was already too long to begin with.

Why? It extends it by ONE week, surely one week wouldn't be such an issue.
Every club gets two byes a year, if all clubs were to have byes on Origin weekends than that would make 3 byes instead of 2 and just get rid of pre-season games which would make up for the extra few weeks from the stand alone weekends. I couldn't care less if pre-season trials were removed and I'm sure many would think the same.

You've still got the elite players playing every week though. They don't get a break. Plus its an extra 3 weeks cos there's 3 origin games.

but since the byes are during the origin period most of the elite players are playing every week anyway

True, hence having Origin as a standalone game on a weekend doesn't improve anything, and makes the playing season 3 weeks longer when its already too long the way it is now.

I agree with Jeb. Standalone Origins isn't the solution. Playing them after the Grand Final is.

But I don't have any agendas..................

-No more bulk buying of players, especially NSW players.

-Sims will never be a bronco in my eyes. Webcke/Gee/Thorn/Carroll/Petero/Tallis/etc >> Daylight >> Fran Drescher >> Ashton Sims

-The return of Tonie Carroll made me very happy. His first game back made me realise why I have always supported this club. Because before 2009, we always had tough inspiring players of his calibre who never gave up. Carrolls impact is huge and I will cherish every second he is on the field for the rest of this year.

That's a bit tough, I think that Sim's fend is much better than Fran Drescher's.

Why do we need 26 rounds then?

1. Leave Origin as is;
2. Add an "Islander/Pacific Island Challenge" Series;
3. Add a QLD Residents vs. QLD (Origin fringe players) game or a QLD City vs. Country (of non Origin selected players);
4. Forget (3) and instead have a QLD Cup vs. NSW Cup series;
5. And reduce club games to 22 rounds and all is sweet.

We all know the first 10 rounds mean diddly-squat, so shorten the whole comp by 4 rounds (even a 20 round comp would sort the top 8) and add some flair. The "Rep" season would be an abundance of riches to tap into!

The beauty of having Origin now is that all players are at their peak fitness (injury not withstanding) having it after the season you've got players that don't play finals who are languishing and losing match fitness.

Cheerleaders should be topless and they should serve full strength beer at the games

I don't buy the "oh the players will be unfit" after the Grand Final BS. They have train on squads.

Shorten the season. Make it 20 rounds plus 4 weeks finals. Have it finish in August, Origin in September. Internationals in October-November. Beeeeeeeeeautiful.

**** origin tho, the regular comp shouldnt have to make way for a comp which has 3 fucking matches. our season always ends up getting fucked by origin, and im fucking sick of it.

man i am the samuel jackson of this forum

I agree Orign stand alone mid season, ruduce the number of rounds , cut the byes I don't care. SOO after the Gf wouldn't work IMO.

just get rid of SOO for all i care.

You are correct the season should be 22 rounds, but realistically it's not gonna happen. Too much loss of $$$$$$$.

I do agree that the best of the Q-Cup should play off against the best of the Premier League, that would be great to see.
