NEWS The night before losing 58-0 to the Eels, the Broncos were … at the pub

Agreed. The only problem I have with it, is today's scrutiny where a video or phone camera always nearby will cause this faux outrage.
They didn't get on the grog, didn't misbehave and were accompanied by experienced players with a clean skin rep, who however probably shouldn't have left a 19 y/o by himself on the pokies...
Does anyone really expect young men to be in bed by 9 pm when their game is practically 18 hours later? Give me a break!

As professional athletes i expect them to be in a different environment. 48hours before can even effect your body's peak output on game day.

No. Obviously gambling isn't the issue here, Renegade.

Fair go - beaten 58 nil, turns out half the team were out at the casino having some yuks the night before. I see a connection here. Maybe they thought they would shake some nerves or something, relax. Didn't work.

What’s this talk of a casino? They were at a small pub about a block and a half from their hotel.

So how do we explain the game Milford dished up.... if he wasn’t effected by the night out then he’s just a terrible footballer and should be moved on.

How does being at a pub having a feed and putting a few coins in a pokie machine affect your body's output? Are you for real?
Had they gone to bed at outrageous hours after a few rounds with a few hookers (not of the Macca's kind) or been on the grog and picking fights, it would be a totally different situation.
This had zero impact on their performance and only looks bad because of backwards mentality duly fueled by the media sharks swimming the the NRL waters...

Playing pokies sober? Clearly a bunch of dead beats. That shit is boring fucking retarded even when blind

Obviously the players are being paid too much if they want to waste it by chucking it down those money gurgling life ruining machines. Never understood the fascination with them either

It depends on how long they were there and whether it was just a few coins and given their salary I doubt it was. After an hour or 2 those things mess with your head. The lights, the sound etc.

According to the reports, they left by 11pm... shocking, I know.

I agree with what you’re saying but I have slight issue with this part.

Macca getting arrested while out on the drink:

Milford copping 1 year origin ban for breaking curfew:

Corey Oates threatened by Bennett to stop drinking or lose contract after alcohol related suspension:

If true, and if against team rules or whatever, is this enough to tear up a contract?

Fifita and Oates haven't re-signed yet ... and no way in hell we want to tear up Haas contract.

if you think the media is bad now, wait until we try to tear up certain contracts but not others for the same offence

I don't see an issue apart from them leaving fifita there. If there is any issue it's the coach not giving them any prep work to do.

It is actually starting to sound like Milf has a disease level vulnerability to the pokies and if anyone gives a shit about him they should get him some help. Yeah he's a grown man and whatnot but doesn't matter how much you are making right now, these machines will gladly eat up every cent you got and then some if this addiction kicks in.

Yeah the distinction is relevant, they weren't out partying exactly. Fair.

It's just the vibe. The vibe.

This is only day two of the Broncos' off season. It's going to go on and on like this, the way it did about Bennett last season.

Looks like they're going after Boyd, Macca, Gillett, Milford and White this year. Let's see how many they can get.

in every one of those cases alcohol was involved ...

in this case no alcohol was involved ...

completely different situations

The clinical terminology for that is extreme mental retardation. The only cure is half a brain.

The having a brain part is not walking into the trap. When you are in the trap you are chemically addicted to those things. It is a literal drug addiction. When a feature goes it triggers your pleasure centres like a drug does, no joke. And they design those machines and their sounds / sights / software this way on purpose. Plenty of intelligent successful people got derailed and ruined by this addiction.
