The Premier League thread 07/08

By world class I meant able to compete at international level!!

Besides i'm allowed to exaggerate, i'm trying to sell the team. Its not very often we get new supporters, especially with big brother buying up all the worlds talent with American blood money [icon_razz1

Wow Riise is a tard [icon_lol1., why exactly did he try to head that??? Might be karma for the two bad penalty calls that went against Arsenal in the quarters and then the penalty Chelsea should have had in the firs half. Good ol' footballing gods eusa_think

Part of the blame should be attributed to Reina. I felt he could have come for it.

He could've, although it would have been extremely risky considering the pace and height of the ball.

The two defenders in the corner should never have let the cross in.

Don't know why there was so much injury time either.

Easy to say in retrospect, but given Riise's aerial ability I would have come for it if I was Reina. Obviously that is easy to say given Riise scored but anyway. The pool fans already hate Riise and I don't think that is going to help his cause much.

I wouldn't say I hate him ... I just get the shits with his lack of ability.

Riise's aerial ability has nothing to do with it, he should've cleared it with his right foot, it was a knee high ball FFS.

He's paid 40K a week, a professional footballer, trains everyday of the week yet hasn't developed a right foot.

He fucked up.

Yeah I agree he shouldn't have headed it. Obviously the only reason he did is because he is horrible and has no right foot. I still think Reina can come for the ball. Regardless of how Riise attacks that ball it is going to be pretty difficult for him given the angle at which the ball came in at and Anelka being right on his tail.

I heard a fair bit about the goal before actually seeing it and upon seeing a replay I was surprised at how close the ball was to Reina. I think it is a major weakness of his that he far prefers to stay anchored to his line and rely on his reflexes rather than attacking the balls when he needs to.

Thank god Cristiano missed that penalty [icon_lol1. looking down the barrel at 0-1 after 2 minutes almost would have ended the tie for us. Barca played superbly though and should have scored more than once, Eto'o doesn't look to have his head in the game and Bojan needed more game time but I was pleasantly surprised with Henry's late contribution, we have the ability to score away and have every chance still to qualify.

Don't worry Ronaldo will make up for that miss next week at Old Trafford _woohoo_

He still hasn't proven himself on the big stage yet and I think next week will be the same.

Blasphemy [icon_thumbs_do, never count out a side with Messi in it when he is going to be ready for 90 minutes not 60. also don't count out the Pool they can do anything in Europe either brilliant or shambolic. Chelsea also can't be counted out obviously either with the way they can grind out results tbh this is a really even last four even after the first legs. GO BARCA!!! I have a good feeling about Wednesday morning!

Looking forward to tonights EPL mini-grand final, hope for Barca and Pool's sake there is a lot of injuries and at the end of the night both sides are still able to win the league so they still have two titles to try to focus energy on.

Lots of big rumors going around at the moment. Milan will take Ronny and Zambrotta in a 30 million euro package and will offload Kaka somewhere for 55 million to service some big debts that the club is struggling to pay, most likely Chelsea or Madrid being the buyers. Tottenham have signed Luca Modric for 20 million and are on the verge of getting Kameni from Espanyol which would be a great signing for them. Arsenal will bid for Niko Kranjcar if either Hleb goes to Inter or Flamini doesn't resign and go to Juve or Milan. Lahm is heavily rumoured to be going to Barca but only if Zambrotta goes back to Italy. Sheva also looks certain to go back to Milan but they don't want to pay much of anything for him due to the financial issues they are having. Gattuso is also keen to leave Milan and Man U, Real and Bayern are all very keen. Let the madness begin!

According to an Italian paper, Flamini has signed a five year deal with Milan. Not sure how reliable that is.

I'm also not 100% sure if Spurs have signed Modric or not either, apparently it's just reports at the moment, nothing concrete. Will surprise me if does go to Spurs, because he is one of the best young players around, and i'm sure he has many clubs chasing after him in that top tier/world class bracket.
