The Premier League thread 07/08

The referee's along with Inter's horrid tactics helped the Pool a lot as well, however they thoroughly outplayed what was in front of them. There are other teams who play like that in Europe I just don't think there are teams of their caliber that do. Its Rafa's way and hey its effective and thats all that should really matter, unless your like me and are just watching the game for the love of it.

As far as i see it, if we had of gone to the Emirates and played a much more open, expansive game, we would've been ripped to shreds.

Sure, we were completely outplayed this morning, no doubt about it. Credit to Arsenal for playing some lovely football, it's excellent to watch and all. Though when you come down to the bare facts, it didn't win them anything, and i guess luck played a part in that, but that's football.

Second leg at Anfield you'll see some nice free flowing football from Liverpool. Trust me.

Oh and Barca better beat the Mancs, i felt sick yesterday morning when i awoke to find they won 2-0. Farking hate the scum.

Yeah Man U weren't that great but finished where they had to and that was the difference. Totti was missed incredibly as Roma looked good until they needed the moment of genius or predatory instinct he provides. God Cronaldo shits me, every time he gets fouled or thinks he gets fouled he rolls over and then sits there with his legs crossed looking up at the referee. He is like a 6 year old asking mum for a treat. Man U, like Inter have a CL complex and especially with Messi back I think we have more than enough to beat them especially when you consider we are as god as done in La Liga and they are in a massive arm wrestle in the EPL.

I cannot believe Liverpool drew that game this morning, like Craig Foster said it was pathetic to watch a side with a fair amount of talent reduced to playing such rubbish football. Sure they got a result but it was so thoroughly undeserved, Arsenal should have had a pen when Kujt pulled down Hleb and if it wasn't for Bendtner playing GK for Pool it should have been another. I hate the pathetic style Rafa gets them playing away from home in the CL it makes the game so much worse to watch when there is one side playing and one side full of good players just sitting on their hands. It is a pity sides like Arsenal get punished for playing beautiful football, 61% possession FFS!

I'll take success over 'beauty' anyday.

People always side with Arsenal in situations like this, why can't anyone praise the defensive performance of Liverpool? They had a plan to go there and play on the break which obviously worked. Arsenal couldn't break through for a second goal, i couldn't give shit if they play football that's nice to watch.

Yeah you poor bastards must be feeling a little over-burdened by your current golden era.

Liverpool fans need to stop saying that their side doesn't spend much money. They easily spend enough that they shouldn't be scrapping it out for fourth and being out of the race by Christmas. However, as long as Benitez is there they have 0% chance of getting anywhere near the EPL title anyway. Having said that, I predict they will sack him in the off season.

Also, stop looking at the 1 great signing and 4 decent signings the fat bastard has made and have a look at the ridiculous amount of mid-table dross he has pumped into that laughing stock of a club.

If I were you, I'd be more worried about my own backyard [icon_wink

You don't really seem to understand, do you?

Do I come in here and scream about how Middlesbrough are a top 6 side? Boro are doing well to stay in the EPL let alone get in the top half. It is Liverpool morons who every single year without fail campaign for a solid two months that this is the season they will embarress the rest of the Premiership and romp it home. Liverpool fans need to accept that they are closer to Everton and Villa than they are to Manure, Chelski and the Arse. You have a very good striker and a reasonable defence with a bunch of B-grade morons in midfield. It's the reason you haven't beaten one of the big 3 in the premiership for about 9,348 decades.

Precisely ... it's strange when you look at the money that Boro have spent in the last decade or so compared to the likes of Everton and Blackburn. You would've thought they'd be regularly in the top half by now at least [icon_wink

I don't recall anyone coming in here and screaming about Liverpool.

You referred to a golden era earlier. Well winning the Champions League in 2005 and then making the final in 2007 is fairly awesome effort for any club.

Our midfield is B-grade? [icon_lol1. Gerrard, Mascherano, Lucas and Alonso are not B-grade. Although you will give us a little spiel about how crap Alonso is.

You obviously have a deep hatred for Liverpool, and seem to talk about them much more than Middlesbrough. Why? Are you a closet Liverpool fan?

What is the point of that comment?

Have you met him?

Ning, the midfield plays B Grade football very often. The guys you mentioned Gerrard, Masch, Alonso, Lucas all play basically the same position which a side only needs one or two tops on the field at one time. Gerrard and Masch are the only ones to have been consistent EPL players, though Lucas has plenty of talent and Xabi can at times play very good football. Rafa and Houllier have bought so much rubbish and over supplied on central midfielders for so long it isn't funny. They played Gerrard on the wing consistently because they had so many central midfielders and no decent wingers, that situation equals horrible management.

There are rumors of Bentley signing with Liverpool next season. What do the Pool fans on here think about that? Surely you would be happy to have him, with Pennant as the only proper right winger you currently have? eusa_think

I'd prefer to see him go to Liverpool than Chelsea. If he goes to Chelsea I am certain he will be wasted.

Yeah Chelsea have wasted the talents of Wright-Phillips, Robben, Duff, Malouda by not giving them a role as they usually play 4 central midfielders and have guys like Lampard and Cole drift into the wide areas. For a very successful side they are very ineffective out wide although Cole and Belletti have improved this.

On Pool I am not 100% Bentley is the real deal but I think he would certainly be a better option than Pennant who has a blinder one week then is unsighted for 3 or 4 matches.

You guys realise that Pennant hardly plays anymore?

Bentley would be a good option, but he may be overpriced being English and all.

But he is really the only proper winger you have in the first team squad. Bentley would certainly add to your limited wing stocks but as you said buying English can prove to be very very expensive. BTW very classy win last night top goal from Stevie G.

Ronaldinho has apparently agreed terms with AC Milan all they need to do is work out a transfer figure. Now I am all for him moving on as he has done more harm than good on and off the field but why the hell would Milan sign him? He and Kaka have had a great deal of trouble playing in the same side together before and can imagine it will be a problem again. Unless they use Ronny up front I can see them hampering each other more than helping each other. A few English teams are lining up for Henry to come back to the EPL as he misses his kid and is playing like arse, very interesting times at Camp Nou eusa_think

I believe Henry is on record as saying Liverpool are the only English team other than Arsenal he would play for. [icon_pray.

Man City are leading the race from what I have heard and they have the pounds to offer him a contract he can't refuse. They would be CL Contenders if you add an in form Henry to them.

The only possible reason i could think of that Henry would join Man City is because Sven is there manager.

He won't join them.
