He needs to wait until all his "mates" are retired and gone, start off with a fresh bunch of people who don't know him, or could offend by being their manager.
See, I don't get this...

The players are highly paid professionals. They have no reason to be offended, as long as their are treated with respect, whether it's a former mate or a brand new coach. Why they should be treated with silk gloves is beyond me. [icon_shru

I mean seriously, should Lockyer really wait 15 years or so until the likes of Yow Yeh, Hunt and McCullough retire?

Ever had to fire one of your mates? Awkward much?

Yes, I had to once, and yes it's awkward, probably my worst experience at work, but that comes with the territory and job description. Firing or even disciplining anyone is always awkward in my book, but a necessary evil.
You want the benefits of the position, you also have to take its cons...

Maybe Dasher's best chance of a coaching gig is to lurch straight in to it...
Maybe if he serves his apprenticeship he will be exposed as being not much chop and the job will bypass him.

Do we even know if Darren wants to be a coach?? Maybe he has another job in mind for his after football life...

I heard he will be signing up with the Bandits and playing baseball.

Exactly - sometimes its not worth it if they are close friends. For e.g. Parker/Hodges?... You can lose more than just a job/footy game. I don't like mixing friends with business - that's just me. I'm not saying it can't be done but I would avoid it if I could.
