Re: Round 3 - Broncos vs Cowboys

So either Bennetts game plan is shit, Blair is shit, or both are shit. Gotcha.

I bet you would be unable to find another starting prop in any game of NRL in the last 5 seasons who has only made a single hitup in even 20 minutes of game time.

Blair is nor a prop, and only a bad coach would play him at prop.

So your solution is?

Only a terrible coach would have played Parker or Thaiday at prop.

Only a terrible coach would have played Hoffman at 5/8.

Only a terrible coach would have stuck with McCullough rather than signing Smith.

I could go on, but Bennett is doing the best he can with what is available on the market and whilst he gets rid of the detritus that Griffin left.

Make no mistake, Griffin fucked this club's roster and it will take 2 - 3 years to fix it up.

In the interim, your anti-Bennett agenda is getting tiresome.

Only a terrible coach would drop your second best player who made more metres than anyone in the entire team the previous year.

Only a terrible coach would play a lazy second rower in prop.

Bennett didn't get Blair off the free market, he actively recruited him and got him to break contract. If he was going to do that, why didn't he do it for a top tier player or 2? Why not go for smith? Why not scott? Fifita? Anyone that is actually good?

Griffin no doubt did some bad with this roster, but he also did damn well with it in other regards. Bennett brought in his boys and has just made bafflingly stupid decisions along the way.

Bennett is making my protesting against his hiring easier and easier. Watch us sign sandow next and then a certain group will love him all of a sudden lol

Griffin picked his roster and they went shit. If you think he went well then it's not worth debating the point because you're clearly a phantacist...

Griffin was a shit coach and now we have to spend the next few years cleaning up the damage.....

Ps not one solution. Just complaints.

Sorry. Forgot. Your solution seems to be "rehire Griffin and make the finals when resulys fall your way in the final round"....

Ive suggested plenty of solutions in many threads recently. Reed out, maranta out, Blair out or to the bench, mcguire playing 60+ minutes, Milford to fullback, buy gagai, buy Jake friend and dump mccullough, go after a young top level prop like burgess or graham, go hard after folau, Thaiday out, vidot in, parcell in for McCullough straight away, Boyd to the wing when he returns.

Want some more?

You think griffin was a shit coach and he ruined our team, well guess what? Bennett hand picked his team at Newcastle and ended up with a worse record than griffin and missed the finals twice. What does that say about him?

reed out, maranta out (who in btw?), sorry were Gagai (sacked by Griffin over non issues), buy Friend, are either available right now? Go hard for Falou (is he available?). Each of your solutions is just pie in the sky stuff....I mean right now....what is our best team right now

how was Griffin successful? Since 2011 we haven't won a finals game...in 2013 the knights went within 1 of the gf. Griffin couldn't dream of that

Bennett could win us 3 titles and it wouldn't be enough....you'd find something to complain about

The gagai sacking was fair, even most griffin haters were ok with that.

Blair wasn't available, contracted for another year, yet here we are. Friend is available for next year iirc, gagai too. Contracts aren't worth shit anymore anyway, both could be here this year if the deal was right. You really think that signing players is pie in the sky?

Griffin had us playing some brilliant footy and got us some good signings. Milf came here under griffin remember, not Bennett.

Bennett missed the finals twice and was never a chance of winning the premiership in the other year. They got absolutely destroyed the minute they played a team who wasn't making up the numbers. Bennett at Newcastle was one of the biggest coaching failures of all time.

When did repeatedly turning up late to training or not turning up to training at all become non-issues?

There are plenty of things to blame Griffin for, you don't need to resort to making shit up....

Hell Gagai even got selected for an emerging origin squad, where he failed to show up to one if the sessions, to which it was reported that Mal said he wouldn't be selected in the QLDtwam that year...

I think we pretty much have the players at the club already that could win a premiership with time.

The only thing we may need to fix is some high class wingers, but thats it.

I think if you want to support a team that buys a premiership, you should support the Roosters.

Griffin had us playing brilliant football?

The best thing he did was give Ben Hunt the 7 jersey. He and hodges have provided the only brilliant football at this club in two years, and it's all ad-lib.

Agree with the rest of your post about contracts though.

I don't. 5 people out of like 300+ break a contract every year and all of a sudden they all mean nothing? That's a pretty small amount to base the statement on.

Doesn't matter. If you can get out of it at all just by pressuring the club, it's pretty meaningless.

Look back at players like Tallis sitting out a year because they didn't want to see out their contract, and the ARL/club wouldn't let them out of it. Contrast that with guys walking out on a club for better money/opportunities and being registered while their previous contract would have been still running.

If the NRL won't force players (and clubs) to honour contracts, they don't mean a thing.

Did I just read Griffin and brilliant footy in the same sentence without the words "opposition played"?...

I am against WB because I think he's too set in his ways and is going to severely jeopardise the futures of Taylor and Jikorima by bringing Boyd with him.

Having said that, he's still better than Griffin. People complain now that Milford is fat. If Griffin were still here Milford actually would be fat.

If we lose Taylor and Jikorima I'll jump into the "we were better off with Griffin" camp but until that horrible thought materialises I'll stick with WB being a better alternative (to Griffin).

Two points that bothered me about last night.

Firstly, JK puts in the best performance of his career. So good that I honestly had him confused for Justin Hodges in the first half, his timing was that crisp. And of course in just being able to enjoy it, people have to go ahead and hold it against Bennett that Boyd will most likely come in and play fullback. I know the Broncos played well but come on did you have to go that far to bag him? I mean, even the discussion point is a little premature at this stage. Let's get an idea of where he's at closer to Boyd's return date before we start feeling sorry for Kahu.

Then we've got the camp who proclaim we never saw a performance like that before Bennett got here. As others pointed out, the Broncos put in performances like that from time to time under Griffin (eg. vs Manly, Bulldogs, Knights etc.) and it's those type of comments that just inflates Bennett's worth and causes people to be skeptical. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed that win as much as anyone and I'm seeing some great signs as well but let's not get too carried away either. There's still plenty that needs to be worked on and the man said as much himself.

I've been real big into compliment sandwiches as of late so I'll lie and give Wayne his due. I really do enjoy hearing what he has to say and actively go out of my way to check out the press conferences. Normally I couldn't give a rats arse because I've seen coaches say everything they've got to say (eg Elliott) and then go onto deliver nothing but Bennett has been fairly spot on so far.

Havent seen a press conference in a while. Griffin completely kiulled any interest I used to have in them.
