The Wayne Bennett Super thread!

Thaiday was one of the best players in game 2.
he was very good, but that doesnt change the fact that his form over the last 3+ years in no way made him deserving of selection, and IMO if we hadve lost we would make changes and he wouldve been gone because he hasnt offered much over the years.

I could give some examples of players making the NSW team with city-country being a factor but that's another story.
Nashy and co move this to it's own topic please so we can have his "That's another story" :001_tt2:

im not debating if being a rep player makes them better than someone whos not, just that they have the most rep players. posters like Broncoman and COMPOUND FRACTURE are the ones trying to bring these unquantifiable things into it just so they dont have to admit that its true and they can say bennetts doing great with a team of nobodies, when a) hes not doing great, and b) theyre not nobodies.
The first part seems to contradict the last part. I personally don't think Bennett is doing that great, and I honestly expected a coach of his calibre to do better, but I also don't think he's got an overly good team, regardless of what rep experience they may have. You seem to be arguing that because of the rep experience, the knights should be doing better than they are, which is where I see the contradiction.

AP seems to think that because someone was a rep player once means they are always capable of being a rep player forever. By his logic I at 55 years of age , can make love 21 times between 5 pm Friday and 6 am Monday morning !!! I also can fight like a thrashing machine and maintain a mono on a 1000 cc bike for a kilometre !! Well I can't and neither can most of the Newcastle rep players represent. WB has got his team firing at the right time and his ability as a coach is not waning( excuse the pun)

I reckon he's doing okay for a coach but he's doing exceptionally well for a coach who has lost touch with the modern game as has been alleged recently on this forum.

missed the finals with a better team than the one that made the finals the year before, winning only 10 of 24 matches, now sitting with a 50% win ratio, 2 wins above 14th place on the ladder. 18 wins out of 40 games since he began at newcastle. yeh, thats *exceptional*.

AP, how can you misread simple English ? I said he is going 'okay' for a coach. I said he was going exceptionally well for a coach who has lost touch, is antiquated ,an anachronism, utilising archaic methods and is just plain old stupid and useless according to some. See the difference ?

i didnt misread anything, you seem to have missed the point of my post, so again - how is winning 18 out of 40 matches and missing the finals *exceptional* for an "out of touch" coach? how is it even ok for a coach?

winning less than half of your matches and missing the finals with that roster isnt exceptional even for a rookie coach.

Simple, in my opinion he's going okay at the moment. This season 2013. Not exceptional just okay. My point is if all the disparaging comments were true then it's an exceptional effort when so inept. Either way I love WB and like herpes ,my love is forever lol.

again though, 8 wins and 8 losses. not what id call ok. maybe we have different definitions of "ok".

So is James Tedesco by the NRL's logic of "playing in a rep match makes you a rep player"
fixed that for you.

love it. one minute you say you dont count city/country, next you say you never said you dont, now youre back to not counting. make up your mind junior.

City-Country honest opinion

I do count it as Rep footy as it's played between 2 teams representing an area but I don't put it on the level as I do with International and Origin games for obvious reasons.

It's rep footy as far as I'm concerned.......

So is Allstars.

I find football entertaining. Coaches are friendly. Except Brian Smith. He's a big poopoo head

I find footy entertaining but I don't find footy entertaining.
