And they won 5 of their last 6 two of which they scored more than 60 points so spwn made a valid point :D

my apologies to broncospwn then. I still think the Storm were well out of sync over the last month but I think it is a bit harder to claim that they been off for a lot longer than that.

they haven't been anywhere near as clinical this year as in the past but they were still playing very good football for most of the season.

I agree with all that KW, Slater has been busted nearly all year and Cronk was way off his usual standard and may have been carrying an injury himself judging by his unwillingness to run the ball or take it to the line like he was in the first 8 rnds or so.

Hoffman was down on form as well and they lost Widdop then Finch which forced them to play Widdop off a long break and we all saw how ordinary he was in his 2 games but Melb have enjoyed an incredible run without injury at the business end of the year so they were due.

None of that however takes away from the credit due to WB for the game plan which ran Melb around and produced a win. It would have been easy to stick with their usual plan but they changed tactics and it worked.

how doesnt it though? whos to say the game plan wouldve worked had melbourne not been playing busted, down on form and down on confidence?

All those things are Melbs problem, WBs job was to produce a game plan that would work, he did, that's all that matters.

i just elaborated on your description with what anyone whos watched any melbourne games the last few months would know.

And there has been no better finals team over the past decade than Melbourne. Wouldn't you agree?

Just suck it up and admit Bennett has done a good job with the newcastle team to get them to this point in the competition. Plenty of other coaches didn't even do that well with even better rosters than he had (the underperforming teams, as you put it). Both the Bulldogs and Melbourne who are supposedly coached by the best coaches in the game right now didn't even make it this far, coincidently knocked out by the Knights. Put all the spin on it you want though ......

Yeah I'd agree with that.

Cronk has a blinder with Slater and Smith ........it's all over for NTLE.

I didn't see any magic WB game plan unfolding the other day......all I saw was one team playing to their potential and the other team playing well below it. Nothing they tried came off (particularly for Cronk).
