Good the hear he'll be staying as i always thought he could be good for us.

Sadly it appeared that Hook wasn't a fan after all, but Wayne should get Kennedy ripping in for sure !!

I am looking forward to next year. We will have awesome front row rotations (providing they all fire):
Kennedy - monster
Garbutt - monster
Hannant - machine
McGuire - machine

Parker back to lock!

(Frothing)

That would be ace. Certainly has been a weakness of ours in recent times. We've had a few quality forwards but had the rest of our pack filled out with fringe players (Lui, Sanderson, Stagg, etc).

It would be fantastic to actually have a rotation that continually brings the heat.

i do think bennett will get him playing well.

he was much improved on prior performances against the dogs, so hopefully that continues

Re: Out of the 8, second year in a row

Never quite understood fans of teams wanting to squeak into the 8.

Squeaking into the 8 is an embarrasment for a one team town in a city of 2 million which has a massive advantage over every other club. Missing the playoffs despite a low injury toll is the maximization of ineptness. Bring on Benny Part 2, these last 6 years (especially the Hook Chronicles) have been extremely demoralizing.

you realise we have to follow the same rules as every other team ... right?

Good article:

"2014 one of the toughest for NRL coaches" ... 2014 one of the toughest for NRL coaches

Extract: "The 2014 coaching carousel

Bennett has forced the merry-go-round to spin faster than in any previous year. His decision to exit Newcastle de-stabilised four clubs and their coaches – the Dragons were convinced they had his agreement to return, only to be jilted at the altar; the Titans were rumoured to be in negotiations with him, although Cartwright says it would never have happened because "the club hasn't got the funds to pay him"; and the Broncos had to pay out their coach and the Knights returned to Rick Stone. With so many former first grade bosses now working as assistants, together with ambitious lower grade coaches coveting their job, NRL coaching is a job for someone with an appetite for the kind of self-inflicted, third act tragedy not much played out in public since the early works of Sophocles.

Maybe you weren't watching for the 8 years before bennett left, but squeaking into the 8 and then getting knocked out easily was a Bennett-coached-Broncos speciality, so you can't really have a shot at Griffin and in the same breathe look forward to Bennetts return.

Very true but I wouldn't call Brisbane squeaking into the 8 a Bennett specialty. From memory we finished in eighth position in 1999, 2003 and 2007. That's three times in 21 years. It was hardly the norm.

I do agree though that it wasn't all rosy under Bennett's first tenure. We had poor years that were overshadowed by us sneaking into the top 8.

that really does depend on you definition of squeaking into the 8, doesn't it.

if you define it as finishing in 8th place, then true not really a Bennett specialty.

but if you define it as losing 6-8 games straight, just before the finals then ... (and that was in a comp not as close as it is these day, just sayin')

The fact that we could lose 6-8 games straight and still be in the finals says a lot in and of itself.
