These are the moments the media should be writing about

Imagine having a friend so loyal they have the gall to ring someone famous.

Because their just so desperate to make your last hours/days happy.

There's being loyal and there's being manipulative.

There are some really disgusting people in this thread. You should be ashamed.

Just calling it for what it appears to be. To me anyway. You don't have to agree. I'm a bitter cynical fucker.

You're not prepared to give someone with terminal cancer the benefit on the doubt on this? Like seriously? Asshole move at best.

Read what I've posted. I've suggested that the friend perhaps embellished or muddied the situation somewhat. Like I keep saying, it's a dire situation. If that's the case, I don't like it. You don't think it sets a precedent that some dick is going to take advantage of, just so they too can have their moment in the sun?

I can't believe what the focus of this thread has become.

A doctor will generally never say "you have 4 hours to live" in situations like this, but may say that it could be as little as 4 hours. And don't underestimate how much such a gesture can lift the spirits, and help someone fight just that little longer.

Instead of focusing on Beau's gesture, and the fact that a young woman is very likely to lose her battle against cancer, people are focusing on whether or not the life expectancy period may have been exaggerated, even going as far as calling it a "scam". Are you people for fucking real?

Regardless of what the girl or her friends/family were trying to do, we should still be praising Beau Ryan for rising to the occasion.
Exactly, how we turned a thread about a good deed that often goes unreported into a thread about the motivation of someone else probably explains why we don't see these stories often.

I'm not ashamed at all...and if everyone was being absolutely honest, they would all admit to seeing the possible emotional tactic in the friends public actions as well.

10/10 for Beau Ryan.......3 cheers for Beau !!!

7/10 for the friend....she had a good cause and so she didn't need to embellish it.

Overall Total: 17/20

A bonafide success story !!

Well I feel warm and fuzzy.

EDIT: Inappropriate

When my brother was battling cancer the doctors told us 3 times that he only had hours to live. Twice he managed to rally and kick on for weeks. The 3rd time they were right.

Situations like this are not like the winding down of a mechanical clock. Human will plays a big part. It sounds to me like Beau and the love of a friend gave her the will to eke out a few more precious days of life.

An amazing gift when you think about it.

Doctors will in most cases understate the time a terminal patient has for a variety of sensible and compassionate reasons. If they tried to be as accurate as possible, ~50% of patients would die before the given timeframe.

And to remove all question marks over the urgency of this situation, the girl passed away today.

@Mr Fourex and @Morkel Keep calling it as you see it, guys.

Kind of a side note, anyone see the funny side of the daily telegraph running with Beau Ryan story and just above it is Lauren Brant getting knocked up by Barry Hall
