time for 2025 Teams List

Unlike tommy tommy league knowledge don’t stop there.

Signed Mozer
Signed Bukowski
Signed, promoted and re-signed Smoothy
is that it?

He signed someone else too didn't he? Head-hunted him the moment he got here a few years back.

Too bad he didn't work out in the halves but dad made sure there was a spot for him.

Give my regards to the walters family 1910.

IKR. Paix is the best hooker in the comp, huge engine and defensively reliable. We all saw him get through a 22minute stint once. And just look at the last 18 months of being on the open market!! Littered with offers, a genuine starter at any other club!

If it weren't for that treacherous Walters and his scheming!! He never wanted to be a good NRL coach, he just wanted Billy to be the clubs hooker!

Ok, whatever. Sounds like he's getting more than a 22 minute stint this year though.

This seems likely. I just wish Riki matured. He's a big body, but he's not serious. He's still a child, and so unconfident in his abilities. He looks surprised a lot of the time when he scores a try or makes a break. He's got talent, obviously, but he doesn't back himself and drops the ball, or second guesses the play, or whatever.
Piakura too needs to find some consistency.
I hope Madge can squeeze it out of these blokes. Kevvie was great for pumping the boys up in terms of ego, but as soon as they messed up they needed their diapers changed. I thought Kevvie might have been a bit tougher on them, tbh, but now with Madge there's a good chance he can make these boys into men.
I feel for Jordan, a lot of what you point out is something that shows up in young men that were raised in broken homes. A Father can make or break a young mans confidence. I don't know the ins and outs of his life but from my understanding he didn't know his father well before his untimely passing. This can have big effects on a young man.

He also has the appearance of being a quality human being so his mother and family did a stellar job of raising a good man. But he obviously lacked that something, that a good father can provide. I think Madge may be able to bring the best out of him by providing a bit of that something. The only other coach we all know who could is WB.

Before anyone has a go at me for chauvinism, that's not my intent. I know full well that just being around doesn't make a father. But an invested father that guides and nurtures a boy to manhood is invaluable to his future and that is a proven fact.

So let's hope that Madge can light that fire in Riki, so we can all witness his full potential come forth. With some controlled aggression this man could be an absolute beast on the edge.

Riki does try and get aggressive with his defence, but when taking hit ups he tries to use some footwork before the line (similar to piakura), but uses it too deep into the line or doesnt get into gaps so that it is ineffective and only serves to stop his momentum leading into the collision.

He runs decent decoy lines because he rarely causes obstruction calls, but his running receipt lines aren't great.

There is a player there, but he just needs to simplify his game.

This likely won’t be the team but I would select

1. Walsh
2. Cobbo
3. Staggs
4. Mariner
5. Arthars
6. Hunt
7. Reynolds
8. Haas
9. Paix
10. Carrigan
11. Gosiewski
12. Riki
13. Hetherington

14. Mozer
15. Jensen
16. Willison
17. Pikaura (subs with Gosiewski)
If the reports are true I think this team is pretty close to the one Madge would select.

Biggest question marks are around the hooker and utility. Smoothy playing against Burleigh suggests he’s at the bottom of the pecking order so it’s between Paix, Billy & Mozer. Again if reports are true it sounds like Paix will be there somewhere whether it’s starting or off the bench. So I think it will come down to Mozer or Walters, I think Madge would lean towards Walters due to his utility value.

I think Gos is making the team, but unsure if he's going straight into the starting lineup... maybe he does if Madge wants Paikura to earn his jersey back.

I think the big thing with our backrowers, including whichever one fills in on the bench, is identifying who is our best defensive edge is, as well as which one is moving to centre if injuries pop up.

Injuries and HIA's will occur midgame and they will need to know straight away which one is moving there and they need to be comfortable when they are inevitably moving.

Same thing if we get two injuries... Kobe to me is probably the next man that moves out to edge in emergencies, because I don't want to lose Patty from the middle... so even if he is intending on playing middle, I think he still needs to get reps in on the edge.

Flexibility and versatility is needed across this forward pack, because injuries will happen and they need to be capable of playing multiple positions.

Sounds like ?
I already asked where these sounds were coming from ?

Giving Kobe and Paix a vote of confidence before pre sesaon doesn`t mean they are straight in the team . I think it was about giving every one a fresh start . Up to you to show what you can do for the new coach .

Jensen starts or not in the 17 .
Not enough oomph to come on as a replacement . BTK will take his spot .

Also Paix`s defence not agressive or effective enough to start . [That`s Billy`s job ]

Walters, Paix and Smoothy are all at the same level. Don't have any preference, whatever the coach sees over the offseason. Unless Maguire has worked miracles with Piakura then he's gotta start off the bench. Gosiewski should be able to start and just be solid, if he can't manage that then wtf was he bought for.

OK ,,, so who is the best defender ?
That would be the point of difference . I believe Smoothy is the most skillful but doesn`t show it .
When he started in 1st grade he did an amazing offload around behind the tackler to set up a try . Never seeen that move again . Why ?

And unless Mozer ups his tackling game he isn`t even on the bench .
He got exploited twice by Uncle Wayne and the Flippers for tries in the middle of the park . Didn`t look like the next Cam Smith in that game .

Even though he isn't currently under contract, I suspect we'll see Shibasaki at left centre sooner rather than later.

Cobbo wing
Hunt five eighth
Carrigan prop
Paix hooker
Gosiewski second row
Hetherington lock
Piakura off the bench

The other changes from last year.
