To make it as a footy commentator

Frank, Hunt had a great game and so did Gidley. "Completely outplayed" is overstating it.

Apart from Phil Gould who seems to go out of his way to fellate the Broncos when in commentary, whoever is playing against the Broncos gets the Channel 9 love. Watch for it especially next week.

I think we did well to grind it out, I do think 9 always have a love-fest when calling Newcastle matches but so what it is no worse than when Kervin Walters and Chris Bombalas call Broncos games up here for QLD viewers. If you don't like the commentary mute it.

Buderus was superb yesterday and is basically every week, the guy is incredible both offensively and defensively he isn't the best hooker in the game anymore (Smith and Farah are better IMO) but he isn't that far back and NSW wouldn't do much wrong picking him at 9 and Farah at 7. He is definately the 2nd best hooker I have seen for both impact on matches in attack and defense and the longevity he has had, Steve Walters is the best. Sure Cam Smith will probably be better one day (I can almost be sure of it) not yet though.

Differance being that when Kevvie and Bomba do it it is only going to SE Qld.So therefore it is allowed icon_smile

Mmm Buderus set up about 3 tries that were bombed by his incompetent back line who couldn't catch (thank goodness). I wouldn't say he outplayed Ennis who had a freak of a match, but he was close.

I hate it when the Dragons are playing more than when the Knights are playing, as the love-fest for the Dragons is sickening. I wonder if it will end next year when Bennet heads there?

The nine team are worst when the Eels are playing Vossy, Rabs both support them and Sterlo played for them they all just spooge over them for the 80 minutes. I just listen to the radio feed unless its delayed then I usually mute it.

MB, the irony I find is that Sterlo is usually the first to correctly say a 50-50 decision in favour of the opposition has been or should be correctly given (eg the Josh Graham try on Friday night). So although he has a soft spot for Parramatta, I tend to think he actually tries to be impartial.

The same can't be said for Vossy and Rabs etc, they definitely pick a favourite and their tone reflects it throughout.

Talking about radio feed, has anyone listened to Monday night football through NRL.com audio link? All the stupid plugs and Gould's constant whinging. It gets painful I tell you.

Absolutely, Sterlo outside of Gus is the smartest guy they have and he is definately the least biased. You can usually tell within 5 minutes who the comm team are rooting for but you get that in all sports with most commentators.

I just hate it when it's so blatant that they almost seem disappointed when the opposition does something good.

I still remember listening to a bit of the 2006 AFL Grand Final on radio and everytime Sydney did anything the commentator was causing distortion on his mic from screaming so loud. When West Coast booted a goal, one of those really spectacular snapshots that put them back in the lead, or extended their lead late I think it was, the commentator could be hardly heard saying "and a goal to West Coast"...

I'd like commentators to be nearly as unbiased as referees. Never gonna happen.

Yes, that's true....but that comment about Sterlo trying to be impartial is pretty good, he does try and be halfway. I mean he kept saying that the try that looked like a double movement was a try, even though it pretty much ended the eels hopes....

Vossy actually supports Souths officially. So does Steve Clark.

Warren Smith and Mark Braybrook would be way up there as the biggest Bronco haters.
Smith is sickening to listen to at the best of times but even worse when it comes to the Broncs.
Often makes me wonder how some of these guys get such top jobs with Fox?Majority of the callers are hopeless.Freeman would be my favourite out of the lot of them(along with Belcher who has come on board now)

Just watched the replay and as expected the boys in the comm box didn't dissapoint as the Knights unofficial cheersquad. Sterling, by his standards, was quite ridiculous at times.

Not being picky. (OK I am)

If he set up the tries, they would have been scored.

Can't comment on Smith, but i once met Braybrook and asked who he supported. He said Brisbane. Go figure.

set up tries that were bombed - he set it up and all they had to do was catch it and it's certain try time.

Only certain try is one that's on the scoreboard

Warren Smith? I reckon he's a pretty good commentator.
