OFFICIAL Tom Dearden lost to Cowboys

The Cowboys have offered Tommy Dearden a paltry three-year deal worth a mere $1 million sealed with a dubious promise to be mentored by some guy named Jonathon Thurston. According to Dobbo, that works out to be cool $1 million dollars a year, maybe more if you count it in potatoes, but you might want to double check his maths.

Thurston's single premiership pales beside Dearden's current brains trust of Langer & Walters who've each won more premierships than Dobbo can count.

Greedy Cowboys football-operations baron Michael Luck said:

“Now that we’ve got Chad, we haven’t ruled out Tom at all. We would still love to have him here and we believe they could work well together as a halves pairing. He is still coming through and learning the ropes and we think Tom can do a wonderful apprenticeship riding shotgun with Chad and then potentially take over from him and be a long-term playmaker at our club."

“It would be great news if Tom accepts our offer. Tom has shown some things we like, so we would love for him to be here. Tom grew up in Mackay, he was part of our junior academy five or six years ago and then he went to Palm Beach Currumbin (on the Gold Coast) to finish school."

“He has done a great job coming through the ranks during a trying period for the Broncos as a club. I know it’s a big decision from Tom so we will give him time and space. We know he is a wonderfully loyal kid, he has come through the system at the Broncos and if he leaves it’s a big decision for him, so we’re not putting any deadlines on him.”

Let's hear it for Townsville!

Meanwhile local legend Kevin Walters is having none of it:

“Tom is part of our system so at this stage we are not looking outside the circle. We don’t anticipate losing Tom. He has been a good player for us in our systems and he’s still learning the game but we see little bits of improvement in Tom each week and we expect that again tomorrow night from him… no problems there with Tommy."

"We have been through everything with Tommy, he has a nice clear picture in his head about his job in the side and we are confident he can do that job for us (on Friday night) and moving forward as well.”

“If you wear a seven jumper these days you are linked to the Broncos, so that part of it… we are a big club, we are a strong club. It’s great to know other players want to come and play at the Broncos, that’s what it is all about. For us, we have our structures around what we will be doing and won’t be going outside those structures.”

“Adam Reynolds is a good player and there is some interest in him, but we need to tie up Kotoni Staggs first and if and when we do that, we will look at our other scrumbase options."

Mitchell Moses, another rumoured player of interest said:

“I‘d love to stay at the Eels, that’s my main thing, I’ve made that clear to them but that’s up them now if they want to keep me or if my management will sort it all out. When a contract is ready to go my management will let me know.”

“The ultimate goal is to get a premiership. But everyone is different Everyone is in a different situation and different ages, all those types of things. The premiership pact gets tossed around every now and then but nothing in depth. The way footy is at the moment everyone looks after themselves and that‘s how it is.”

Two sentences only.... okay, let's move on.
Yeah I think this has been a while
coming if you read between the lines of previous comments from the cows and Kev. Kev seems off the little turn coat but. No goodbye or good luck.

For some context regarding the player exodus:

In 2015 round 26 Knights played the panthers in a wooden spoon decider. Only 2 players remain at their club from either team list.

Isiah Yeo and Api (who left at season end and returned in 19 I think).

You don’t go from spooner to finalist by re-signing the team that got you there.

Like the Dogs and Allan as a fullback, nek minut he's now a centre.
That's because Allan shat the bed spectacularly... I mean they've only replaced him at fullback with Meaney.

I think the better example would've been Cotric. I'd say they lured him on the premise that he was their fullback (he played there as a junior) or at the very least their strike center moving forward. He's now playing on the wing just like Canberra

That's fair enough. But I know he was looking to
It is an interesting concept but if his body is as broken as suggested, he's not what we need, we already have too many overhyped, overpaid and broken players.
Sorry messed up last reply. That's fair enough. I forgot how banged up he was.

Don't think he would be overhyped or overpaid though. He was reported to of dropped his price to around 300k when he was out here at Christmas, but nobody wanted him then.

Hodges went to the Roosters to play fullback too didn't he and ended up as a centre.

Then why is Kevvie coming out saying he is the future of club? Seems strange to me.

I can understand it, he's not going to come out and say "yeah, nah, he's shit and we won't be tabling a contract"

Go stuff by Kevin Walters, I’m over this club being held to ransom by these young players that have absolutely achieve **** all. I hope tommy takes anyone else with the same attitude with him. Kevin is slowly restoring the broncos culture, good on him.

Obviously, but you are also not going to call them the future of the club either.

Put money on Staggs leaving the club as well.
I think Staggs stays and Coates leaves... the heat seems to have died down on Staggs.

Titans pulled out for the 4th?? time and his manager is back onto a "Sydney" club is offering $800k... but now he's back in trouble with the integrity unit.

I'd say Coates to Titans for $400-$500k

Yea actually I think you might be right, especially with Staggs behavior of late.

Things would feel a whole lot better if Kevvie was able to sort out Milford's head and get him back on track.

I think he still has the talent, he has the kicking game, he's a clean skin, a family man, he has all the attributes of a marquee player and long term half for the club and he is still young, he could be that half you build a squad around, but for whatever reason he just can't pull it all together.

I so badly want him to come good and step up.

It's getting to the stage right now where that's exactly what Kevvie needs, it's no long about hoping it happens, it's almost at the point that Kevvie needs Milford to become that player again.

I know the discussion was a few pages back but anyone who thinks the Cows will release Drinkwater has not been paying attention the last few weeks.

He's been far and away their best player. Basically no chance they even entertain the idea of giving him to us.

How do they fit Dearden, Drinkwater, Townsend and Holmes all in the same team?

Holmes on the wing for 1 million a year?
