So from what I’ve read 600k a year, if that’s true that’s the perfect price for him.
Not on his form this year it isn't.

Really good point. Earlier this year, TPJ said he would sign where he felt he would play his best football. Obviously he is pretty confident that this squad has the team and game plan to enable that. The positive things I take out of these re-signings are:
1. These two are our future pack leaders and they are showing commitment to the club and their team mates.
2. It would seem reports of Seibold losing the dressing room are simply wrong. Players like these two do not re-sign unless they see a good future here and they are happy with the coach.
3. It would seem that they have bought into Seibold's coaching approach and his culture.
4. It gives an added air of stability which will hopefully attract other players to sign here.
5. It confirms that we are building a formidable forward pack and you are more likely to sign a star back if they know they are playing behind a dominant pack.
So a bit of confirmation that good times might be on the way.
I also think it's a fair price and he has a great game last week. Hopefully we will see the best of him now that he has a good long term deal.agreed.
The way incentive based pay should be distributed is based on starting teams. An example of this could be between Glenn, Gillett, Fifita and TPJ you could say okay, there is an extra $100k between the four of you based on games in the starting 13. This will be paid at the end of the year. If between those 4 players they average 20 games started each, it's $1,250 bonus per game. That way no matter what essentially you use the $100,000 salary cap space, and it prevents you going over.unfortunately, the issue with incentive based contracts is that they can cause salary cap issues.
if he meets the requirements, then it can push us over the cap,
if he doesn't and we don't spend the extra 100k, then we are at a disadvantage
You could come up with something like this, just maybe not the starting thing. Players already feel like the bench is a demotion, lets not go and underline that too.The way incentive based pay should be distributed is based on starting teams. What to do with Fifi, Gillett and Glennagreed....second phase play seems to have passed broncos by for years now....
But the top teams always have that option with their front row or edge forwards; I firmly beleive this is a area where Broncos can really add another dimension to our attack.
I mentioned before; I thought TPJ was a lock but after the game against the Sharks im starting to come around that he is actually an edge forward in this pack.
And if that's the case then it makes the case to extend guys like Flegler and Carrigan as future 13s...

He should though.. he's captain material. The others are strike players.yeh its not Pokemon is it...cant catch them all...
I think Glenns the odd one out...cant see him getting 2 year extension...he might have to accept a more modest contract if he wants to stay...

Considering the amount Gillett is apparently on, and the fact we need value for money to balance our cap, I’d argue Gillett is the odd one out.
This is just pure speculation and guesswork but I’m of the belief Glenn would be on just over half of what Gillett is on. Glenn has around the same amount of top level experience and is probably playing on a par with Gillett this season so is playing much closer to his contract value. Gillett is being paid what he was pre neck injury. Glenn also holds the same amount of respect in the playing group if not more. Only thing in Gillett’s favour is he has a higher ceiling than Glenn but whether he rediscovers that under the circumstances is another thing altogether.
Thing with Gillett too is he still a big name and a player other clubs would still throw money at so he is still a decent asset in that case and would be much easier to move on unlike Boyd and Macca.
But unless he somehow finds his best post neck surgery I think we could use his money much better especially with the amount of back rowers we have coming through the club.
But no doubt the whole ‘we can’t treat a club legend like that’ will surface yet again in the future even after Darius and Macca are finally gone if we are stuck with a declining Matt Gillett on around $700,000 a year.
I think he meant that the Broncos paid him decent money, which allowed him to be able to move his parents up here with the money he gets paid from his contract. Is that a bit dodgy about the Broncs taking care of the parents?
