Treatment of Fans (WAS: Where's Aeetee?)

Re: Where's Aeetee?

Wow, so if all you admins decided tomorrow, enough is enough... this place is gorrrrne!!!

If a company/business wanted to sponsor BHQ, who do they contact?

I don't have anything but I deal with alot of people, you never know maybe one day just incase for future reference.

Always thought Broncos.com & Allan Langer on-line paid for it with sponsorship.

Speaking of Alfie on-line, noticed the site isn't linked anymore... bailed out as well.

I thought the same thing.
So the broncos offer no support at all?

Re: Where's Aeetee?

yeah its shit, i sometimes i am very annoyed at the fact that my favourite club couldnt give a **** about its fans. from what i heard and im sure those in the know will back me up here the BHQ crew havent recieved any sort of recognition at all for their diehard support, yet along comes xxxx money and all of a sudden, the black zone is the official supporters group. pretty piss poor right there from the broncos.

I used to be a member of the strike squad when i was in my early teens, the support squad for the strikers, just born out of love for the team from the fans, and the club acknowledged us, let us go out on the pitch before games and set banners up around the ground, and got us involved with the matchday and it was just nice to be part of the club.

Thats what the Roar do for the Orange Army, even give them there own section of the ground and let them sell tickets for that area to the OA members. We can only dream of that, have asked and been refused.

Re: Where's Aeetee?

Unfortunately I think it's the culture of the club.

I don't live in Brisbane, so I cant really comment, but I'm guessing it's cause they have ALWAYS has the support of a big city. It's not like Sydney teams who might have to fight for supporters, or Newcastle who need supporters for financial reasons as well. The broncos are a business, and I think sometimes they take us all for granted. [icon_frown We all felt like that after the newcastle game, we had braved the elements to support them, and they didn't even look in our direction.

I still love them, and will support them no matter what, but that area needs a huge improvement IMO.

Re: Where's Aeetee?

There were at least 50 fans waiting at the bus at the Newcastle game, and yet K and Hodges pulled the curtains across the windows of their seats (on the bus) so we couldn't see them... [icon_non

Sylve organised our appearance at the Sydney NRL supporters' touch football comp (organised by Parra Jesus), the Broncs gave us tshirts to play in (only!), but still featured our photo in the Broncos magazine like it was something they had helped organise.... [icon_non

Don't blame them, I would too...

That's still more than the Broncos have given BHQ or any of the supporter groups in Brisbane!

Even if that was your paid job?

Wow didn't know that! Any chance I could get a hold of a copy somewhere Jeanette?

Re: Where's Aeetee?

I know where you guys are coming from, but I'd probably pull the curtains across too if 50 people kept staring at me.

They should probably give a wave or two, but what do you expect them to do?

Re: Where's Aeetee?

I have raised this question of Broncos treatment toward their fanbase, since 2005!!!

Espescially toward the SBBS. Inside Lang Park, I can understand people not standing out. I can understand that, even outside all the work and support that Broncos fan groups have undertaken in Brisbane, supporter groups not standing out in Brisbane.

However, the SBBS stands out like dog's balls at all games in Sydney. Every game, you can clearly see (and hear), the SBBS group. Hell, on a TV in Perth, I can still clearly see them. So why the Broncos, barring TC (and Thaiday once!) can't even just walk toward the group and raise their hands, is a bewilderment.

I have said before, it is no wonder many NRL supporters, especially QLD based supporters, believe the Broncos are arrogant. The goup goes to every game in the Sydney area, surely the players must realise that those people are passionate about the club?

In the old days, the boys did get dirty with the fans. It has only been since 2000 that this culture has started to emerge. Maybe after Superleague, when the professionalism stepped up, the culture changed? Who knows. But the more people pedalstool them, the worse it seems to get.

My only suggestion is for young fans to realise that these people don't cure cancer, they don't save lives. They don't heal people and they don't lay themselves in harm's way for others. They play sport.

Love them, but don't idolise them. Don't swamp them for autographs, don't feed the machine. They are just blokes who are good at sport.

/rant.

Re: Where's Aeetee?

It's true though. They don't care.

It's crap cause I would/could never stop supporting them but a little recognition would be nice. Ever if it's just a 'thanks guys' as they are leaving the field, or walking past to jump on the bus.

I'm not sure if any of the other players have thanked us but I know Thorn and TC used to wave over in our direction after games. At the Panthers game last year the boys actually came over to us and clapped and all that.

Also, at the Broncos V Manly game in Brisbane, Parker actually came over and said thanks for coming up.

This is the exact reason I don't like Boyd. He is probably the most arrogant person I've ever met. At the Newcastle game he didn't acknoweldge one person. He put his head down, walked past and got straight on the bus.

I've at least seen K and Hodges sign autographs and get pictures.

I understand it must be frustrating having all these fans come upto you and annoy the shit out of you sometimes, but that comes with the job. People look up to these guys, I don't think they understand that.

It doesn't take much for them to say a few words, it all just seems too much to ask for.

Sometimes they have 50,000 people staring at them, I don't see them walking off the field to hide.

A wave would be good, smile maybe. Dunno but a little acknowledgment goes a long way.

The way I see it, people like us help pay the wages, without us the fans they are nothing but park footballers.
