Treatment of Fans (WAS: Where's Aeetee?)

I absolutely love traditonal rugby league grass hills - Love them! There is absolutely nothing better than standing up on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon on the top of the hill at Penrith, Campbelltown, Brookvale, WIN, Kogerah or (and especially) Liechardt oval.

I am a sucker for traditional rugby league grounds with hills.

Ditto. Suncorp is comfortable but I miss the concrete terraces and the can bars at the back. Those iconic features that make suburban rugby league grounds great. I can understand NSW cubs taking their home games to ANZ for the cash benefits but the trade-off doesn't seem worth it. Mike Colman wrote a good article in today's Courier Mail on the subject.

Definitely. Cheaper seats too icon_thumbs_u

I would absolutely ADORE it. TBH I can't even remember it being mentioned before... wonder if they'd still be willing to have it as an allocated Broncos Supporter Bay eusa_think

We discussed it during the year the Blackzone emerged. And people didn't want to let go of the great seats we currently have.

Wasn't that simple Sylve. They still said in order to book out a bank of seats we had to pay for them, or find a sponsor willing to foot the bill a la the Black Zone. The only advantage would've been it would've been cheaper.

You would love Recliffe's Dolphin Oval

I love traditional grounds like Redcliffe when it comes to Q-Cup. Still a sucker for the likes of Suncorp when it comes to the top flight though icon_thumbs_u

In all fairness, it's not as though the only Broncos fanclub is located at BHQ. But I do agree that a time should arrive one year where the Broncos go out of their way to make it a fan year.

Of course it isn't located at BHQ - that's the WHOLE point. So we have a section advertised on Ticketek etc. as the bay for BIG Broncos supporters who want to make noise etc.

If BHQ hosted all the Broncos fans in the world, this wouldn't be an issue.

Fully agree with that, was more indicating the lack of financial support for other supporter related activities like hosting etc.

True. Ideally, I would not want it to be a set number of seats or whatever that we have to pay for - but simply another seating category which people could choose to be in, for both season passes as well as single games.

Unfortunatly, Rugby League grounds a little bit more professional up here in the Sunshine State champ. I guess QLD is just more professional in their approach to RL.

I love hills, but the fact is there can't really be a ground with a hill which is seating around 50,000 people in this day and age.

No stadium with a hill in the league can fit more than around 23,000 in, and I think we really need to be aiming higher than that when we talk about crowd averages 10 years down the track.

A hill?? Pffffffffffffft, I'll sit on a hill watching Q-Cup but when it comes to watching the Broncos give me a comfortable seat with a fantastic view any day of the week. Rain, hail or shine. That's what made Suncorp Stadium the best Rugby League ground in the world.

Do I sense sarcasm or not?

Professional? Lang Park used to have a hill did it not. So what is your point? Dairy Farmers stadium also has a hill.....

The teams who still have grass hills simply cannot afford to upgrade to seated stands which is why many stadiums still have a hill. I am sure sometime down the track we'll see all Sydney grounds with seats instead of hills because financially it's simply better for the club.

It's unfortunate IMO, but I guess that's just it goes.[/quote:sxxvfkr4]

I was really just trying to allude to the fact that I'm now a BRISBANE based Bronco Supporter and as such, expect a little more. [icon_wink

I'd like if Lang Park had a general admission section, rather than all allocated seats. But meh, never gonna happen.

Lang Parks hill was more cement seats.Nothing like the hill at the Gabba under the trees.
Now that was the biggest loss in Qld sport.

You have not experienced enough hills in your life. [icon_wink

I've been on plenty of hills. They go alright but I'd rather enjoy a world-class seat in a world-class Stadium icon_thumbs_u

Agree the Gabba hill was awesome - now there's nowhere for the crowd to play cricket during the boring bits.

Sure, I like Suncorp with the capacity it can hold, but the hill at the Gabba and the outer at Lang Park still holds for me some of the best sporting memories for me.

Nothing will ever beat the atmosphere of the outer at Lang Park on Origin night. icon_thumbs_u [icon_drun
