As for Karmichael...I saw him last year (I think) at Fridays and he hugged us when we walked past him. [icon_shru I think he was drunk but yeah haha. .

hahahaha that was when I was up there and we went to Fridays!! That was so random. Then his friend tapped me on the shoulder and said something but I kept walking haha.

Hahahaha...I've been thinking when that happened aye. Random much? I think it was because of your aura. [icon_razz1

Yeah you have to feel for the players sometimes though, but then again it's their job.

I used to be excited when meeting the boys but am over that now. I like to get a pic evrynow and then with Locky because he is my fave player and i have always respected him but it doesnt bother me anymore.
I guess i have learnt that they are normal people. I went to training when i came to brisbane last year and most of the boys didnt look happy signing so many autographs. It was after origin 3 so the training day was pretty full. So many people. they even hurried lockyer out the back so people couldnt swamp him.

I have a few friends who are very fanatical. One goes for manly and she has proposed to Brett Stewart that many times its silly and she isnt doing it in a joking way she is serious. She goes to training and waits after every game. She even followed him to his car sometimes. That was intense. [icon_ee

I know it's hard to compare, but how has everyone else found other sporting personalities/teams etc if you have met them?

I can only compare to the v8's. I know they aren't quite as well known as the top footy players, but they certainly have great fan relations. icon_thumbs_u Many a time I have attended signings at a race weekend with my brother, and the drivers really seem to enjoy meeting you. I have seen them stop and chat with fans if they have time, and often thank you for coming, supporting them etc. Some drivers also have their own website, with blogs to let fans know what they are doing.

I always wonder after attending the v8's, why some footy players aren't as enthusiastic about meeting fans. [icon_shru
But I always give a wrap to TC, he is awesome.

Maybe because the drivers just sit there whereas footy players run and get smashed for 80 minutes? [icon_razz1

There were at least 50 fans waiting at the bus at the Newcastle game, and yet K and Hodges pulled the curtains across the windows of their seats (on the bus) so we couldn't see them...

Those two are always together.

Not at training or a lot of other club stuff - they try to keep them apart because they are seen to be a bad influence on each other [icon_lol1.

Not that I agree with you there [icon_razz1, but I'll edit my post. V8 driving is harder than you think

A lot more money and contracts in V8's. Usually when they are talking to the fans they haven't been in a car all day either.

I have a feeling if you tried to talk to Skaifey or Lowndes etc. after something like Bathurst, you'd get the ass too.

That's if Shaun actually turns up.

Not getting a lift of me either!

Shauny is working! So I dont think hes coming at all [icon_lol1.

I dont complain about your Parker obsession [eusa_naugh , I dont know if thats the right word for it either eusa_think

I think its good you have a favourite player.

Sorry this is just my opinion but I think some are just taking it to heart way too much. We support the Broncos as a football team, and because of that I don't give two shits about what they are like off the field. Besides there is plenty the Broncos players and officials do away from the field that is much more admirable then saying "g'day" to fans that are watching them get on a bus.

I hate you guys.

No more lifts for anyone.

EVER!

Dude -what did I ever do to you?????

Have read with interest the posts on this thread. Won't rehash some of the things that have already been raised but I agree, the Broncos fans could benefit more from some more acknowledgement from the team/management. The Broncos of old (ie. Tunza, Willie, Thorny, Alfie, Johnsey) were great in recognising their fans but this is a new generation of footballers we're talking about.

I'm aware some of these things had been discussed internally at the Broncos in the past and some of the guys there are aware of it. They have their reasons. Having the new kids on the block like PJ, Wallace and Sims has been great in providing a fresh presence and restoring some better relations with fans.

To my mind, Wayne Bennett has also been great with fans and I still think it will be a sad day when he leaves the Broncos

If someone had contacted me about organising support for the touch/oztag day, I could have organised that. May still be able to if someone confirms with me when exactly it is on. I have chatted to Diehard about it and may even be able to organise a visit from the players icon_thumbs_u Leave the negotiations to me... but I will need commitment from those who are going to be playing!

No offence, but with you primarily based in Sydney I don't think you organising it was viable. And I'm not bothered about players making an appearance to be honest.

Seems like different people on here have had different experiences with different players. Personally, I've found Karmichael to be one of the more approachable guys. eusa_think
Me too, and I'm sure Meat would agree given what happened in Brisbane a few years ago...

What? Just because he let me sit on his lap like he was Santa?

I happen to live in the same area as a few of the players - Hodges, Carroll, Thorn (when he was here), Webcke etc. I've seen them plenty of times around the place - at the shops or whatever - and they have been really nice. I never say anything to them but often they say hello to me or to the kids (the kids have no idea who they are) or just nod - just as you would to anyone. They seem like nice normal people to me. Webckes daughter is in the same grade as my son at school and I'm friends with his wife. But I've never spoken to her about footy at all (too busy yapping away about mum stuff) and to be honest, I don't care that her husband used to play for the Broncos. When he's at school, he's just like all the other dads. I like that. I think the whole superstar thing is crap. I'm a Broncos fan, but I don't care what the players do with themselves off the field. I don't care who's nice and who's not. As long as they play footy well. You just need to remember that they are just normal regular people that play professional sport.

You mean... you've been around Webcke and you didn't hug, kiss, grab etc?

You're crazy, Webcke is the manliest of men, greatest ever everything in the world. He's awesome, I picture him sleeping in those stubbies and boots you know.

That's how much I love Webcke. I want his babies... If Arnie can do it in that movie, I can do it.

i think the players are fine and i have no problems with them at all. the problem i have is with the club itself.

Agree totally Jeb. I am a fan of the footy team and the players. I support them because I am simply a fan and not for what I could possibly get out of them. Sure a wave of acknowledgement as they are walking off the field might be nice, but it doesn't bother me if they don't do it; it's not worth getting worked up about. At the end of the day their job is to entertain by playing footy and I for one am constantly entertained by watching the Broncos play. That's all I really need from my footy team.
