I'm sure managers will try and push up their player values, but I doubt it will have any real impact on the salary cap valuations.

It's not a rep game, but it is proof of the player's popularity, so I guess it could come up in negotiations.

No, 18 players get selected by the public, but the coach decides who gets which jersey. Anyway, Daley is the coach, so it explains a lot... :haha:

not quite. the 20 man squad is made up of:

- captain is automatic selection, which was thurston.
- public chooses 16
- coaching staff pick 3

I don't know if I like the 20/40 rule. One minute you could be struggling getting out of your 10 due to opposition's amazing defence, and the next minute you are suddenly on the attack from 40 out.

Given the amount of successful 40/20s in the game there is a greater risk of turning the ball over inside your half. It's a high risk play, what the rule will do however is force teams to drop their wingers back and open some space

It's just the whole thing is becoming more and more attack oriented. It's kind of like cricket, where it went from Test Matches to Twenty20. Seeing a 4 or a 6 in a Test Match or an ODI is great, but just about every shot in a Twenty20 is a four or a six. It's like, what's the point anymore? The more attacking footy we see, the more boring the standard games become, and the less impressive the truly glorious attacking moments are. Maybe it's just me being a bit pessimistic though.

No, I think you are right. It's all about the product (vomit) these days and the current thinking is fast flowing footy and tries sell.
