Under-fire Broncos recruit Jack Bird eyes return for Brisbane

Birds only frustrated because he is injured and not playing at the moment. If he is still having this issue at the end of next year then by all means move him on but I don't think he will. Any player gets frustrated when they cant get onto the field especially when its your first year at a new club. Gallens really only trying to stir the pot in an effort to get him back home and have us pay most of the freight. Bennett wont do that. I think he is too stubborn for that

What the hell is Gal on about? They’re one win ahead of us, and you could say that we’re in a development year with the amount of kids we’ve been forced to trot out due to an injury to the best 2rf in the game and multiple other key players (including Bird), plus Milf developing into a proper half. The Sharks pack is old, their juniors shit, and their prem window is probably closed after this season.

Edit: not to mention that the Sharks are to blame for the extent of Bird’s layoff this year with their pathetic medical staff.

From next year into the foreseeable future we will be a guaranteed lock for a top 4 spot with the way our freakish forward pack is developing and the blokes still to come in (Staggs, Haas, the aus school boy halves that we have our pick of, Carrigan, etc). Cronulla will lose Lewis, Gallen will slow down dramatically more than he already has unless they have a new Dank on staff. From what I’ve seen of Sorensen and Capewell their jr forward depth ain’t pretty. Imagine if they lose Holmes...

Was Gallen even watching the Broncos vs Sharks games this year ... if not, i'll refresh his memory ... we won both

Gallen is an idiot. He thinks he's being smart, trying to convince Bird to go back to the Sharks on less money because he says it'll make him more successful and happier.

In reality, the dig about playing for a successful team with fire the Broncos pack up. If we meet the Sharks in the finals expect McGuire and TPJ to absolutely fucking snot Gallen and remind him with every tackle just how much "better" they are.

I just really can’t see Bird being put into lock when we have such a good pack and he isn’t needed there.

Look how Radley has added another dimension to the rotters. That's what we would get from Bird IMO, and he is a better footballer than Radley.

Radley has a great hit on him and can see him being bigger than bird when he fills out.

I don't think that's what Gallen meant. I think he's just speaking in general terms. Not Broncos v Sharks.

Phil Gould questioned why Bird would leave a club he was comfortable at and criticised the modern-day fascination of players demanding to be put in certain positions rather than just doing what was best for the team.
Gallen agreed, saying the lure of team success should count for more than the appeal of getting your hands on the ball more often.
“When you get in an environment, you have to play the position that suits the team,” Gallen said. “Wherever you want to play, it doesn’t matter. You play the position that is best for the team to get the result.
“At the end of the day, everyone loves a winner.
“What would Jack rather do — play lock or five-eigth and score two or three tries a game and lose? Or play in a team that’s winning every week and playing semi-final football? That’s what you’d rather be doing.”

Gus is critiquing the modern player and wanting to play certain positions- Gal for me is clearly agreeing and adding- do what's best for the team and what would you rather do play your preferred position in a losing team or wing in a winning team.

He's isn't inferring the Broncos aren't a winning team just saying modern players choose the personal preference over team too much.

He should have stayed general not said Jack. But I think his intent was general warning about picking personal preference.

That's what I took from it.

Reckon Oates'll read Gus' article and stay? :D

So Bird is named on the reserves bench, so his year is not quite over then!

He may be back at the Sharks next season, but I doubt it is because of the sole reason he attended a Sharks game in Sydney while his team were in Sydney for the weekend. Buzz is a douche, and has grown douchier as the season has gone on.
Buzz is no douche
That is an insult to douches all over the world....
