All I do is collate quotes from the wires and dailies and pad them with a bit of fluff so there's no copyright drama. Drop a byline on the bottom, and bang, original content. Same as most of the paid journos do.

This is how around 95% of journalism works: sub-editing press releases. Most of the Broncos content you read is based around a scheduled interview with a player, who's sometimes wheeled out in front of a small press gallery, done over the phone, or bailed up one-on-one during training. The rest comes in press releases issued by the club, and contains official quotes to be used in media. The journalist then pads colour and context around the quotes. If they're particularly lazy - and that's most of the time - they'll merely reiterate the quotes as an introduction to each paragraph.

This goes to the sub-editors, who'll fact check, fix typos and grammar, fit it to page, drop in some pics from the pool, and then cycle headlines throughout the day to make old stories look fresh and get more clicks.

My indulgence is I like to take their articles and spin a different angle. I like to get a laugh out of it once in a while.
