Well done to Federer! Watched on this morning very excitedly, this may have been the confidence boost he needed to get back to no.1 and go well and truly past Sampras' benchmark. He seems to have a mental difficulty with Nadal as much as anything, hope he can overcome it and really earn some more titles by beating the one guy that has really thrown the guantlet down to him.

He didn't have a bad day. He has been below par for weeks and has been showing signs of fatigue from a long and intense season. He was also playing on his least favourite surface.
