SECRET negotiations to bring the world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, to Australia were revealed today with the Olympic champion on the cusp of announcing he's coming to Sydney.

Bolt is being offered almost $1 million and the chance to race the National Rugby League's fastest players, including Greg Inglis and Jarryd Hayne, The (Sydney) Sunday Telegraph reported.

He'll win easily.

Depends, is it on grass, or a track? Footy boots, barefoot or running boots?

I hope slater and gordon get included in that nrl list, especially gordon, i reckon he is the fastest of the league boys

He'd go past these guys like they were nailed to the grand stand.

Our best sprinters would towel Gordon, Hayne, Inglis etc and they can't even make the quarterfinals of comps that Bolt dominates.

Would still be awesome to see however, great publicity for the game.

I would absolutely love to see it.

I would also like to see David Meade from the Titans and I think his name is Uate from the Knights, both of those guys can move!

Oh, and each participant to carry a footy!

I heard about this race the other day. I heard that at the end of the year they are going to find out who is the quickest man in league. Bolt s a publicity stunt thats all. A dam good one too.

But here is food for thought, is the fastest manin league the quickest guy over 100 or the quickest guy over a 100 at the end of 80 mins of footy.

The race IMO should be over a 100 then a 10 min break. Then run another 100, take a ten min break. Do this say 5 times and see whos times are the lowest.

Imagine if Soward won it and during a game next year Jennings mows him down after having to turn and chase him down at the 75th min mark. Does that make Jennings now faster than Soward? Know what I mean?

When the try line is in sight my money is on Kemp all the way OH YEAH!!!

We dont care who the fittest is, we just wanna know who is the fastest! One race will show that

Would like to see over what distance though. I mean rarely does a RL player have to or find himself in a position to run 100m, so maybe it should be the quickest over 40m or 60m - I think that would garner a different result to fastest over 100m.

As an aside (and with my Athletics Nerd coming out), it is actually a mis-nomer that the quickest man over the 100m is the quickest man. They have done numerous testing on all the champion 100m and 200m runners and each and every time they have done the tests, the quickest sustained speed is attained by the man winning the 200m. And in the cases where the same man is the 100m and 200m champ - he is always running quickest in the 200m.

True. But I would also like to know who the fastest is over a game.

Are you sure this is the case? Just from my own general knowledge I was always of belief that sprinters are always slowing down towards the end of a 100m race - ie they hit top speed at about 80m - and thereafter are losing momentum as they have pretty much depleted their instantaneous energy stores which have about a 8-9 second capacity. Obviously they can still generate energy, but not at the rapid rate they could over the first 8-9 seconds which leads to a drop in speed.

while usain bolt is insanely quick, i think some of you are underestimating how quick some of the NRL guys are. i have no doubt that Slater and co would be running the 100m around the 11 second mark, probably under. Usains best is 9.58, so thats at most a 1.5s gap.

11 seconds would have you a distant last at metropolitan meeting!
